Chef's Table (2015)
Should be 20 minutes shorter
An amazing show but it just keeps going. Beautiful music cinematography, sound. Amazing idea for a show progressing society. But why so long? I'm not sure, I guess probably just to fill time.
Rewind (2019)
AMAZING AND BRAVE
A documentary from a brave person about himself. Hearing the story told in a thoughtful way about his upbringing and full family. It has a clear message and is informative. Very important film that will help people recognize and prevent child abuse.
What the Health (2017)
Biased and ridiculous
This film has the intention of creating a good solid health based reason to not eat meat. But they immediately seek to vilify companies and people with unsupported facts. There are many films out there that promote factual based reasons why to not eat meat and/or animal products. However trying to blame an entire organization by sloppy research by calling their general phone line and talking to a customer service representative and expecting actual answers is bad amateur journalism.
Is there a problem with the way the United States of America's huge food system is run. Most likely yes. Again, other documentaries go into this clearly. However saying that it is unnatural to eat meat because people in a particular country add harmful pollutants to the animal's diet does not mean that meat makes you sick. It means the way we have contaminated our food chain can make you sick. Eliminating animal products can help this. But the fact is animals eat animals. Not just humans eat meat. It is not unnatural nor bad for your health.
Farms that are run terribly in poor communities happen. But going to one part of the country and interviewing one family doesn't mean that eating meat is an attack on poor minorities. Most of the farms throughout the Midwest are around white poor to middle class families, where we have some of the smallest minorities in the country. Also some of our problems in our food system have to do with the way we raise our vegetables with large corporations like Monsanto which this film doesn't touch on at all. It's trying to explain one issue by using problems from other issues.
The people who seemed to get better miraculously is great, but we have no idea of their credibility or if they're a hypochondriac. I did enjoy how they showed athletes who are vegan and incredible at what they do and their successes. That was something I had never seen or experience in our media before and I found it refreshing.
Thinking about diet in health is a great point. This film just made it in a terribly biased way. I've seen much less biased films made by PETA. I suggest if you're interested in the subject to go elsewhere for more accurate information and less propaganda.
