Pali Road (2015)
Excellent !!!
Beside Hollywood production I love watching Korean and Japanese movies, but I am not really familiar with the Chinese cinematography. Jonathan Hua Lang Lim, who was completely unknown to me before, did a great job with this movie. There is some amazing background scenery, that is combined with a top-notch direction, so I will surely be paying attention to this director's future work. Acting is good and the story is very well put together. I didn't find any plot holes in the script, everything made sense and I loved the ending. I highly recommend the movie to all the romance lovers, even though it has some elements of thriller so I am sure the audience of many different genres will like it.
The Confines (2015)
Fine Horror Movie
I see that many people didn't like the movie as much as I did, so I feel compelled to write why I think it is awesome. First, the story is not a cliché and I find the script very cleverly written with a nice twist at the end, which I didn't expect. Second, the acting is great. Jason Patric is not at his finest, but he did his character OK. Louisa Krause, previously completely unknown to me, was amazing in her role. Her acting is believable and she is also smoking hot. The setting of the movie was great and the whole movie was a fun thrill ride, with some decent scares. If you expect a Hollywood blockbuster you might get disappointed, but if you are looking for a fine nighttime horror I highly recommend it.
Saved by Grace (2016)
Rescued by a Woman
Saved by Grace is a movie marked by brilliance. The plot takes us on the journey of a retired police officer who lost all hope for a happy life. Throughout the first scenes of the movie he is seen considering the possibility of ending his life altogether. In the last minute an unknown woman shows up giving him a reason to live again. One of the most interesting characters of the entire film were the homeless. He is played by the actor Muse Watson, and despite the fact that he isn't given a specific name he is still a powerful presence in the movie. He gives Rick a valuable message to a man struggling with faith after the loss of his wife. This homeless man is old, unkempt, and unshaved and yet through Muse Watson's skilled acting he is turned into a character whose simple appearance speaks volumes. The better of the two actresses in this movie is Catalina Rodriguez because she is always focused, in character, and arguably the most complicated character of all. She acts out the part of the character named Grace, and while she appears to be happy-go-lucky and perfectly fine on the outside it turns out that she has tragedy in her past. This movie is so uplifting because it gives people hope no matter how tough life can be.
Pixies (2015)
Comic-Inspired Fantasy Fun
Sean Patrick O 'Reilly, who stars as the voice-over for the character of Joe Beck, brings a comic-inspired and interesting film to the big screen. Without giving away any spoilers all that can be said is that the Pixie movie will get promising results at the box office. The reason for this is the plot is captivating and it really pulls the audience in. The great background music was a light and pleasant contrast compared to the loud and obnoxious soundtracks people see in some action movies in the modern age. The music was a perfect choice for the movie, because it kept the story flowing, and didn't serve to merely distract viewers like the other ones we've seen. Technically the movie is brilliant due to the fact that the graphics are high quality and top notch. Sound and voice overs of all the other cast members are excellent and perfect. Pixie the movie tells the story of an auto mechanic who learns his lesson to respect the pixie's environment. The action was just the right amount with fantasy violence and nothing more. It is marvelous for people of all ages to watch, because it has emotional twists that get people drawn into the story.
Olympus: Daedalus (2015)
The Mythology of Time-Warping
Where to start? First of all I liked the episode. It was awesome and it's nice to see Lykos transform from this scared looking wimpy boy into this tough man. A tough young man already making big decisions for the general of his father's Athenian army. Due to his higher rank in King Aegeus's kingdom Queen Medea who is the boy's mother can no longer control him. In the end however I have a feeling that Hero's character could've been more developed. One of the biggest things I criticize in Olympus and in particular this episode of Olympus is the whole ghost that looked like it was being time-warped or something. On the one hand it was the best thing ever because of the blue and white colored thing rose up looking like it was all in mist. Above all this episode is a better sequel to the first episode than I thought it was gonna be. The introduction was full of action, violence, and revenge. Very powerful and irresistible to watch and in harmony with my tastes.
Altar (2014)
Good Horror movie
The movie Altar is one of the best horror movies you can possibly ever watch. Number one it never ceases to captivate the imagination and keeps you interested until the end. Altar is more than just a movie about a haunted mansion and there is a secret altar built into the house itself. The altar was used to sacrifice a member of the household for whatever reason. I really enjoyed the film because of its chilling special effects and some really gory scenes including a massage scene involving blood. On the other hand what I didn't like about the film was that I felt that certain scenes could have been extended or shorter for that matter. Overall the cast was pretty good and the plot of an was extremely good to the point that there were no plot holes at all. Only the one thing I would change is the fact that some of the scenes were pretty boring in their own way. And the best part is that altar is both symbolic and literal in their story for it is a symbol of sacrifice and killing people is only one kind of sacrifice . I think this is a pretty fun, scary film to watch but I just wish there was more violence and blood really spurting everywhere.
Olympus (2015)
Olympus is packed with lots of magic, action, and ancient secrets.
I found the plot super interesting for many reasons. One of the biggest is because I myself happen to be a huge fan of Greek mythology and I love this one in particular. Queen Medea, is attempting to solve the riddle of the Lexicon which she believes lies inside their son, Lykos. The Lexicon leads to the door of Olympus and any mortal who is able to enter Olympus will be welcomed by the Gods and become an immortal. It's therefore no wonder that any person would be willing to get ahold of this Lexicon, but there is absolutely no way of knowing if any of the holders of this Lexicon will use it for good or for evil. Oracle has a vision, divining that Hero is the first born son of Aegeus, the King of Athens and as such, he carries inside him the Lexicon. Olympus is great because it's packed with lots of magic, action, and ancient secrets. Knowledge of immortality called the Lexicon is one of those ancient secrets which, when deciphered, translates into a map that lights the way to Olympus, home of the Gods. Immortality as we know it is the repository of the greatest secret in the Universe. I am so curious to find out how exactly this mystical riddle will be solved if that's even possible. No other human that came before the protagonist Hero has ever managed to solve it, and Hero himself seems to be struggling with it.
Jack Vale Offline (2015)
Best Reality Show Ever!
Jack Vale and his entire family have a FREAKING REALITY SHOW? This is amazing!!! LAS VEGAS BABY!!! I gotta say, this is a family I would love to be adopted into. I've been following Jack and his family for several years. On YouTube he shared hospital visits with us when Sherry had sonograms of both of their youngest children, Jaxon and Jazmyn. A show like this makes total sense and it is SOOOO much fun to see how far the Vale's have come!! Also love the squeaky clean brand of humor Jack is so good at bringing to the table. It proves you don't have to be dirty to be funny. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHERE THEY GO IN SEASON 2! My favorite cast member you ask? CHRIS!!!! He is so funny and should get a spin off show or something!! Good luck Vales!
