The Power of Place (2015)
Gorgeous & Poignant Film
The Power of Place is a gorgeous film, full of stunning footage of New Hampshire's landscape and its people. The documentary contains poignant and authentic interviews with those potentially affected by the Northern Pass project in New Hampshire, interspersed with breathtaking shots of the landscape, from homes and historic downtowns to backcountry trails and wildlife.
The Power of Place is a documentary and, as with most documentaries, it has an agenda. That said, its position is well-defended and the film does a great job explaining the background of the Northern Pass project, illustrating claims from both sides and ultimately taking the side of the environment and landscape of northern New Hampshire and those who live there.
I'll admit, I knew little about the project when I began watching this film. I don't live in New Hampshire and haven't been keeping up with project developments in the news. After watching it, I immediately wanted to learn more which speaks to the power of the storytelling, both verbal and visual. The film is in limited release locally with a premier in Portsmouth, NH this coming week. I hope it finds a wider audience and ultimately has an impact on those that have the power to make the final decision.

The Evolution of Advertising
The Naked Brand is an extremely well-crafted documentary about the evolution of advertising and the heightened importance of brand transparency.
I first saw clips of this film during a marketing conference in 2013 where the filmmaker Jeff Rosenblum was a featured speaker. It piqued my interest then, but I sort of forgot about it until today. This film is definitely worth watching, filled with interesting footage and candid interviews with some of the top CEOs and innovators in today's business world (from huge corporations to innovative grassroots start-ups).
Highly recommended for anyone who works in marketing or considers themselves to be an educated consumer.
