Boiling Point (2023)
Better than the movie
Really enjoyed the series and it was a good prequel to the series. Hopefully there will be a season 2. Although some of the stories lines were maybe not necessary ie the lady with crohns disease who can barely act and her boyfriend.........was by far the dullest character and a waste of an episode. I think it would be interesting to see what comes of the new shady America sous chef but Vinette Robinson is always a pleasure to watch. She is so well versed and an incredible actress. I thinks it will.be interesting how they progress this and it would have also been helpful to understand why they are in the financial situation they find themselves in as this was not clear.
The Son (2022)
Zen Mcgarth was dissappointing
Hugh Jackman is an outstanding actor and the fact that he carried this whole film on his back was no easy feet and just shows how talented he is. This could not be more further from the truth with the casting of Nick. Zen has show he has no real acting ability and the reason they would cast him in quite an emotionally demanding film is a mystery. He has no screen presence, his emotional portrays are forced and he carried the same unconvincing expression for different emotions. The other actresses and actors gave a solid performance but Zen ruined the ability for this film to make a real impact. No redeeming qualities about his acting which unfortunately made this film less than what it could have been....unlike a Timothee Chamalet who would have killed this role.
Infinity Pool (2023)
Terrible
Started good, and went downhill very fast. You know a movie is bad when
A) When you don't relate or like any of the Characters (except the wife who is the only character with redeemable qualities and is absent for half the movie).
B)the main sci-fi concept has not been thoroughly thought through and therefore seems ridiculous
C) they spoil any sense of what you thought the movie was about with a ridiculously confusing ending
There are no redeemable qualities here. Mia Goth overacts entirely through the whole movie and her presence if not just irritating is very exposing. Her allure to the main character is somewhat based on mystery but there is nothing mysterious about her. The movie is about the deprivation of humanity and how low one can go, but the wife who has the only redeemable qualities is not used as a catalyst in any way for the main character to show his humaness and she is never even mentioned which again makes no sense. Really lazy script writing.
Reacher (2022)
Clichéd modernised wild west film
Contrived and typical story like with a hulky brute who is undestructable. He is supported by the bland, poorly written female detective who is very basic and doesnt really add much to the storyline other than ticking the box of having a love interest. This has a lifetime feel to it ie the dialogue is very predicatable and cliched. One thing the series does have is very good fighting scenes. Reacher has a good onscreen presence but other than that, this is the type of series that appeal to mainly 40 year plus men. This is very much like a james bond remake which would be unsurprising if these are how the books are written. Probably should have remained just a book.
Resident Evil (2022)
Could have done more
I watched the whole series and there were good ideas that could have had a better execution in developing the story. I liked the dynamic between the sisters though the main characters ability to escape death was over the top to say the least. I think a zombie film is a hard sell, but it wasn't as unwatchable as some of her comments are eluding to.
Liar (2017)
The lead women is the most unlikeable character.
It hard to get through a series when you completely can't stand the lead role. Obnoxious, pretentious and overly steered to be the unbelievable hero putting away a rapist. Better casting next time.
Reminiscence (2021)
Lazy writing
Didnt understand this guy's obsession. I guess having a strong british accent and being quite promiscuous and provocative is the only requirement for being desired to the point of obsession. Miss out character development for any actors and there goes the trainwreck. They mention the war all but 100 times yet no real explantion on what they were fighting for or how things came to be as they are. Boring, bland, waist if time. Flop.
Your Honor (2020)
Bad writing, plot not believable
I couldn't get past episode 4. The crime family is based on a bad recreation of the Addams family meets the Godfather, I mean we are in 2021, times have changed and creating a family so hideous with the character of the less than desirable wife, racist murderous son, and forgettable father, weird random daughter is laughable at best. This family apparently is bigger than any us government institution and runs the city in crime...right? Oh...and are randomly talking about their faith in God...confusing?? Kofi the best character is killed of which is a bad move and the main reason I refuse to watch the rest. The writer makes the black family the lapdog for all misery, injustice, pain and sorrow. The problem with this is that it goes beyond making a social/political point, for instance the grovelling and desperation of the mother who comes across as weak and simple is insulting, and makes me question the writer's own views on his subjects and not in a good way. The main guy (father) is a good actor, but the son's actions are centred around creating a story for the father. This story is unbelievable. The writer doesn't know New Orleans and even if he knows of aspects of crime he overrides reality with his own agenda which creates holes in his story. Could of been good but failed.
