Star Trek: Picard: The Next Generation (2023)
They're back.
I have to admit that I HATED seasons 1 and 2 of Picard but was thrilled when they announced the cast for season 3 and it was only this reason that I decided to stick with it.
The opening episode has not disappointed me I'm happy to say. Lovely to see the familiar faces back together and I had a real sense of sadness and nostalgia- like bumping into an old friend with whom I'd spend many happy years but had lost contact with!
The design and effects are cinematic in scope and detail. The music is a real throw back to episodes and movies past.
It's a little too early to say much in terms of story but it seems that there's a major conspiracy at the heart of this.
Overall I cannot wait for ep 2 and wish they'd have rolled them all out in one go.
If you lost faith in seasons 1 & 2 come back and try this out. You may be pleasantly surprised.
Star Trek: Discovery: Kobayashi Maru (2021)
Trash
I can't believe that they cancelled Enterprise but keep this garbage running. Utter tripe and definitely not in any way Trek. Unlikeable characters, uninspiring stories. Totally hate it.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
What have I just watched?
I was really excited to watch this and had been looking forward to its arrival on Disney for some months now.
Disney have, typically dropped the ball on this in big way.
Aside from McGregor the acting is almost laughable, there's a scene in Ep1 where little Leia - who just seems like a precocious brat is being chased through a wood by a group of henchmen, seemingly fleeing for her life. The chase can only be described as utterly pathetic and at first I actually thought it was a parody. It had the feeling of the way that Benny Hill would be chased at the closing of his show.
It simply just doesn't have the feel of Star Wars, come on now just how hard can it be?
Trying to add peril to characters that we know in universe live on is going to be impossible so all they need to do is flesh out and create a back story.
I will probably watch the rest of the series but through gritted teeth.
Manhunt: The Night Stalker: Part 3 (2021)
Getting better and better
I wasn't sure about Martin Clunes taking the lead for this drama (based on a true story) as to me he's a comedy actor but I've grown to really enjoy him in this role.
A dramatisation of true events which proves that fact is sometimes stranger than fiction follows the tale of Londons metropolitan polices investigation into a serial sex offender.
The show gets better and better.
