The Flash: It's My Party and I'll Die If I Want To (2023)
End of an era
Well here we are the final stretch of the final arrowverse show. And honestly this was a great episode in what so far has been a dissapointing season. In alot of ways this feels like the finale of the arrowverse leading into the finale of the flash. It was amazing and quite heartwarming to see Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen again and he is 90% of the reason this episode works. It feels great to see the Green arrow back and the episode captures the brutal action that arrow once had. And had me grinning the whole time he was on screen. It will forever be hilarious to me that the future of everything DC including James Gunns New DCU is thanks to Oliver Queen.
Edward Scissorhands (1990)
A journey of fear.
I'd seen a clip of this film as a child and since seeing it I had been absolutely terrified of this movie. I've refused to watch it for close to 15 years. That changed today. And I have to say this is one of the most gorgeous films I have ever seen. The story is so poignant and beautifully told that I was in tears most of the time watching it. Edward is so innocent and gentle that you can't possibly be afraid of him. I actually saw alot of myself in him. And by the end I'd completely fallen in love with the film. There are very few films that can be described as perfect. But this is one of them.
The Batman (2022)
Good start. I look forward to what comes next
Matt reeves the batman is good... But unfortunatley good is all I can muster. The film suffers from several issues that undermine it but as a whole it's a step in the righ direction. The film is gorgeously gothic and many elements are so good it feels like they've lept straight from the page. The design and feel of this film often times feels like it came from my dreams as a lifelong batman fan. The film certainly has issues that do ruin it in areas but the way I see it this film is an experiment to test if this kind've batman could work. And I have to say it absolutely does. With some issues addressed I'm sure the next batman will be one to remember. I recommend this film to any batman fans out there. The first 15 mins alone are worth the watch. But my advice bring a neck pillow.
Star Wars: Visions: The Duel (2021)
A great start. But felt a little lacking.
Great episode and a solid start for visions. The visuals and artstyle are breathtaking and gorgeous as is the spectacular blend of black and white and colour. My only criticism is after the brilliant jaw dropping reveal of the Ronin. The character feels very 1 dimensional and lacking best I can describe it is this story and characters really needed a series rather than one episode it is a great concept and I'd love to see more of it but unlike other episodes it's more of a frustrating ending rather that doesn't really close well. The ending leaves several questions that I would like to see answered but these questions bring down the episode as a singular entity which wouldn't be the case if a series went followed it.
Star Wars: Visions: Tatooine Rhapsody (2021)
Something new.
I disagree with Alot of people in that I thought this episode was great. And honestly I'd love to see more of these characters I would watch the hell out of this show. Were the songs a little cheesy yeah. But a band trying to save a member by impressing jabba the Hutt is such a unique and brilliant concept that perfectly sits within star wars. And has the same kinda feel solo had. Star wars is such an expansive universe not everything has to be so grand and epic the galaxy is so unique even the small seemingly insignificant parts of it are interesting The episode was Short and sweet and I loved every minute.
Doom Patrol: Danny Patrol (2019)
Some people just miss the point.
This episode is absolutely beautiful as is this show as a whole. If ever felt like a misfit or felt like you didn't belong. This is for you. There are people who say it's woke and too political but that's the point this episode is about being happy in your own skin and that doesn't make you abnormal or a monster. I would say to anyone facing identity troubles to give this a watch. It's a 10 on the musical number alone. It never fails to put a smile on my Face throughout.
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018)
Great...kinda
To start off bandersnatch is as good as regular black mirror episodes it is full with dark turns and the same twisted perspective you are used to however what lets it down in my eyes is the interactive element its just a ta confusing synd frustrating at times as you want to progress further in the story which leads to a maze like effect when you cannot navigate or get back to a particular story thread this is likely intended but i feel it just didnt hit the mark with me unfortunately as i said nothing wrong with the story brilliant writing as always however i do not think interactive TV is the future unless it is streamlined
