Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
The sequel we always wanted !!
There was always talk of a third ghostbusters film and after the disappointment of "Answer The Call" I never thought that we would get the film we wanted .. however ! Afterlife is exactly the film we always wanted and needed to fill that void. The casting is incredible , the characters are great and even the ghosts are good. I feel Paul Rudd could have been used more in his role but he makes the best of what is seems seemingly a short cameo for him. I love the mix of the old and new in the film bringing elements of the originals into it. McKenna Grace is brilliant as Pheobe , she really pulled the part off well and the acting is excellent. The new characters are brilliant too, thank you for making this and making us smile again at Ghostbusters.
The Rig (2023)
Drab and Uninteresting Watching
Touted as a supernatural thriller , this new series was a rehash of old 70s/80s B-Movies plots about a vengeful earth. The acting talent on show here is undeniably excellent but they were let down badly by poor writing , awful special effects and the most ambiguous ending to a series I think I've ever seen. In fact , the end episode was awful and really didn't give you any hope for the second series (if it gets green lit which I highly doubt)
Suffice to say I was utterly bored by episode 3 but watched through just to see if it would get any better, which, it did not!
I mean in this day in age with the wizardry available for effects you'd think it would work but maybe they had a low budget. The script was utterly dire and flat, and there is really no explanation or tying up of loose ends in the plot.
I was thoroughly disappointed and hoped for much better.
The Fate of the Furious (2017)
Fate of the furious is that this film is damn good
Action action action, twists and turns , what an entry into the Furious franchise this is. The further you get into this franchise the more action there is. The storyline is very good and ties up a lot of loose ends from past films. I really enjoy the chemistry of all the characters which seems to increase with every film. Great acting in this film as well , superb action sequences, and very heartfelt moments. In regards to where this film stands in my humble opinion , I'd put it in the top 4 of the franchise. I can't wait for the next instalments to see where the series will go next. Bring on 9 & 10.
Wednesday (2022)
Wednesdays Child is full of Incredible Joy
What a superb series this has proved to be, I was under the impression it was aimed at a much younger audience but that is certainly not the case. I've been a huge fan of the Addams family since a young boy and this was one of THE best takes on the whole series. As a huge Tim Burton fan I had huge expectations and they were absolutely met. Jenna Ortega is perfectly cast and absolutely superb as the lead character and the rest of the cast were utterly amazing . The direction and cinematography are first class. There was some outstanding sequences and the whole premise of the series was excellent. If you want a series to loose yourself in I for one cannot recommend it highly enough.
The Walking Dead: Here's Negan (2021)
The Single Best Ep of TWD
I'm not giving anything away , what a superb episode. JDM was superb, beautifully written and acted and an absolute emotional rollercoaster. After the disappointment of previous episodes of this run what a gear change and back to the days of TWD of old. I hope the final series is as good as this episode cause if it is , we are in for a superb final series.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Legendary *****
What an absolutely incredible film .. passionate, moving, such a perfect tribute to the legend of Freddie and the band.
I can't praise the actors highly enough for there performances they were all amazing, especially Remi Malek. He just brings Freddie back to life in such style and grace. He is perfect for the role and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets an Oscar nomination for this film.
The music is just bought back to life so well and recreated to the enth degree by all the performers
I urge anyone who is a Queen fan ( even if your not) to go and see this film
Help! My House Is Haunted (2018)
Super Supernatural Series
Finally !! A uk paranormal show that knows what it's doing. This creation from the great mind of Zak Bagans has given us by far the best UK paranormal show on tv right now. Barri Ghai, Sandy Lakdar and Chris Fleming work really well together as a team. They all work to make the program extremely professional and also their explanations of evidence captured and presentation is just terrific. After suffering the "FakeFest" that Most Haunted has become in the last few years, this show finally gives you real, raw footage that is absolutely amazing to see. The show has the ability to go so far and the way it presents the places it is investigating comes across in such a way that it really makes you go cold when seeing the footage that is shown. Chris Fleming's ability is really something to watch and he is so accurate. I had never come across his work before but I will be following his work thoroughly from now on. Sandy Lakdar I had seen during an episode of Ghost Adventures in Paris and she really captured my attention then with her sensitive abilities. She comes across so well and has a really engaging personality. Barri Ghai is a superb technician and he explains everything to such a high degree of clarity. They all investigate well together and work to show us what we want to see from a paranormal show. I can't wait to see the rest of this series and what evidence they produce. I believe we can really look forward to many years success for the show.
Benidorm (2007)
Series 10 - Is Awful !!!! Unwatchable trash
I am extremely disappointed with the new series of Benidorm. I have enjoyed watching earlier series as the characters were engaging and funny. As the series progressed the comedy got better and the characters story's became very watchable. This trend has completely disappeared with series 8-10. Some of the characters are still enjoyable and funny to watch especially the ever funny Mateo and the lovable Liam. For starters Lesley has got nothing left to give and I feel extremely sorry for Tim Healey who has played the part so well up until now, it seems to me that writers just have nothing new left to give him. Kenneth has just become a laughable joke it is the same thing over and over again. The main family the Dawson's just aren't funny and never have been since they were put in to replace the oh so funny Garveys (they should never have left) the Dad and grandad have just become letchs over their sons girlfriend who was underused. The constant letch fest over the first half of the series is ridiculous, I especially couldn't stand the awful Loretta who is just so unfunny I turn away every time she's on screen as the rubbish that comes out of her mouth is unbearable. The rubbish that she utters is mind numbing and the characterisation is awful. The absolutely ridiculous Pauline is back yet again pissed every time she's on screen which just makes her unwatchable, she has nothing new to give. Monty and Temple Savages relationship is just utter boredom, same jokes every week and nothing new to give. Boring dialogue, unfunny jokes, overused sexual innuendos and over acting and under acting of the worst kind have absolutely ruined what was a very good series for 7 years. Well done to the Benidorm writers for absolute killing the series dead. I will not be tuning in again !!
Ghostbusters (2016)
Busting Success - Haters need to stop - Going be it a try
All I really want to say is I really enjoyed this after initially thinking I would absolutely hate it. It is a very good film in its own cannon, I love the subtle hints back to the originals which you would expect to see in the film.
I readily agree it is not as good as the original but give it a try
Kate Mcinnon for me is the best part of the film, she is hilarious and really hams up her part to the max, and as a group all the women in the main leads give very good performances too lending humour and good acting
Go on , try it , you might like it
Logan (2017)
#Warning Spoilers# Best film in Marvel History
This is by far the best Wolverine film and in my opinion the best Marvel film to date. Hugh Jackman is one of the best actors in this era and his performance in this film is absolutely spellbinding. His intensity, honesty, power and pain in a role that could not be done by anyone else now is just effortless. The girl who plays Laura too is going to be a massive star, her future has been cemented by her performance too. Her intensity and power will make her a terrific addition to any future Marvel films including the new Wolverine
Patrick Stewart is also a fantastic actor and it will be a shame not to see him in any future films, although James Mcavoy has made the role his own.
Every single part of this film, the acting, the cinematography, script, characters and action is Oscar worthy. If this doesn't win Oscars next year it will be a travesty.
I was reduced to tears by the ending of this film, it is so poignant and heartfelt. You really feel the pain and power of the final scenes
If you watch one film this year , watch this !! You will not be disappointed I promise you
