The Shift (2023)
Religious mayhem disguised as sci-fi
Pity, so much potential.
Man finds religion thru new wife.
Man's wife is swapped and he doesn't notice.
Devil has far more charisma and plays where's the lady.
Leaves religious man in a world even worse than ours.
Man keeps praying but is abandoned.
Finally gets a break, but it's another trick.
Then thru sheer luck gets moving.
Turns out it was another trick.
God saves him.
He gets a facsimile of his first family and he's happy.
Er, ok. So it really pushes the god bit. Like alot, like every 5 mins. This was no Devil's Advocate. More devil's avocado. The idea could've been executed far better.
Perhaps someone will redo it in 5 years....
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
She-Hulk was fab in the comics
She broke the 4th wall before Dead Pool. It's a pity Ryan Reynolds isn't playing the character (She-Hulk), like Urban playing Dredd. Ripley was awesome, Connor was amazing, but then we watched as they destroyed the characters. She-Hulk was ruined by episode 1. I still have hope but I'm afraid the team (by episode 3) doesn't understand the material and somehow the lead is unlikable. Maybe we can get some female comic fans making entertainment rather than creative teams trampling over the source. The fact that Bruce didn't Hulk up before injury and leaked blood on his cousin just made her a Hulking is plain daft. The original comic book story made alot more sense. Random cameos so far,. Mary-Sue She-Hulk knows her powers better than the original Hulk who's had years to master his ability
Oh well. At least we learned that Cap wasn't a virign.... as if we cared.
The Sandman (2022)
Starts as a solid 8, declines into a mess of a 4
Stop at episode 4 and you're in for a treat. Once we hit 5 we go into decline. It feels as though there was a change in heart half way through. Tom Sturridge does a fabulous job of pushing his version of Robert Smith as the constant within The Cure. Although he seems to get fatter every episode. I won't let that bother me as I believed him every time he was on screen as one of the endless.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Please try harder
Perhaps if people watched all original Star Trek they'd understand what it's about. This limited idea of doing something because someone thinks it's cool can barely travel unless your audience is either drunk or has limited cognitive ability.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
The Reason to Visit the Cinema
Tom Cruise is the reason we continue to visit the movies. Someone needs to come up behind him before he retires. Worth every penny, worth every second of my time with immaculate pacing and use of time to increase suspense.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
It was good. Nothing special.
No real feeling for the characters, some weird ways the movie attempted to make me care but I didn't.
When a certain character dies I was disappointed as I thought they could've had a better arc.
Replicas (2018)
Best comedy sci-fi
I was laughing all the way through this.
Sit down, open a keg, relax as Ted clones his family & loses one. Bill has some great one liners...
The Critical Drinker (2012)
Awesome Character Development
I don't think I'd be happy if this was ever cancelled. I'm still crying over Future Man ending prematurely. Let's hope the Critical Drinker looks at The Haunting of Bly Manor, perhaps he could fix it?
Gordon, Gino & Fred's Road Trip (2018)
Great Chemistry
Great show, maybe BBC could nick them for a TopGear reboot.
