Flirting with Disaster (1996)
You are so glad you aren't them
This movie will make you laugh, make you mad- but truly you will end up really glad that you are not in this trek. It is really a star-studded cast and they all play their parts perfectly. I never pictured Alan Alda and Lily Tomlin as junkies from the sixties. My ex-husband was adopted so I somewhat understand the need for adopted children to know where they came from, but this really makes you understand that (not just adopted children) But for everyone that "the grass is not always greener". Be grateful with what you have already. It will make you laugh, but the message is really extraordinary. No matter if your husband looks at you funny half-way through thinking "why did you pick this"?
Talk Radio (1988)
Very chilling
I chose this movie really for my husband-who works in radio broadcasting. I thought that it would be more of a movie that he would enjoy and relate too, though it was from the eighties-so it was a little dated. This movie really draws you in. At times you just want to strangle the host, Barry. At times you just want to send some of the bigots who call in to a true concentration camp. At times you really feel sorry for Barry, because he has truly gotten too big for his jeans if you know what I mean. It was on the Drama channel on Encore-so I am thinking this is a true story. If you truly love dramas you will love this, even if you don't know all the ins and outs of the broadcasting business. If you are an Alec Baldwin fan and are watching it to see him, you shouldn't. His part is really a bit part in this movie.
Raising Helen (2004)
Not what I was expecting.
I was really expecting this movie to have me laughing my tush off. The trailer portrayed that and the movie is categorized as a comedy. It was a good movie for what it was-it is really more of a drama. I love Kate Hudson-she is my favorite movie actress, but I was disappointed because I was expecting her to make me laugh like before. It is a good story, but it doesn't leave you laughing. It leaves you sad in parts, mad in parts, some parts were funny-but all of those parts were shown in the movie trailer. I don't expect to be seeing this movie again. The romance is a little dry, too. Manly men won't like it at all I'm afraid.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)
I can't get enough
This is truly a movie I can't get enough of. I own it, yet every time it comes on Showtime, I have to watch it still. Kate Hudson is truly her mother's daughter. She is a great comedic actress. I really think she is my favorite movie actress. Her chemistry with Matthew is great. I wish they would get together again because they play really well opposite each other. Tony and Thayer really steal the comedic scenes though. Their non-chalant comments are so sarcastic it makes them even funnier. I should say, though - I think this movie is more for women than men. Only a woman could appreciate all her tactics to drive him away.
50 First Dates (2004)
Great movie!
If you have read any of my other comments, you know by now that when I watch a movie, I am in it for a certain emotion. When I watch an action movie, I want to be on the edge of my seat all the way through. When I watch a sensual movie I want to be ready to jump my husband's bones at the end. This was truly a great romantic comedy. The comedic parts were hilarious- I was laughing the whole way through. The romance was awesome. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore really have great chemistry. I felt them the whole way through. The penguin and the old guy stole the show. This is not a chick flick, though. The guys will enjoy it too! This is a movie that I suggest you own!
White Chicks (2004)
The way I rate a comedy
The way that I personally rate a comedy isn't the same as any other genre. When I watch a comedy-I intend to laugh my tush off! That is the only emotion that I want when I decide to watch a comedy. That is why I rate this so high because I laughed constantly. Emotion is the only reason I watch movies. I will say that Marlon and Shawn make pretty hideous girls. If you enjoy masterpieces, may be you should make another choice at Blockbuster. But if you are like me and just want a good laugh, this is definitely a great choice. We watched the unrated version which was a lot tamer than a lot of movies I have seen. So be daring and rent the UR version.
