4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)
Decent
Interesting but for me it was a let down of sorts. I understood the storyline of Sue and Reed's marriage failures but it seemed a little forced to created a possible separation of the team that last a good 5 minutes...that should have been drawn out more.
I enjoyed that Reed finally took charge of the team...what he says goes in this one...this was Truly Mr. Fantastic.
What disappointed me was Galactus...I wanted to see him....or something more compelling than a cloud of radiation. I understand that movies have to be written a certain way to make them feasible but the one thing that makes Spiderman very successful is that Raimi sticks to the comic story line...Galactus does not die in the original story...why not stick to it....for me it was a big let down to see how it all played out.
My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006)
Pretty Good...Just what one would expect
Not too sure if these are considered spoilers...better safe than sorry This was an excellent premise for a movie. In Superman returns we got to see what happens when a superhero falls in love and loses their love. But this is seen from the male perspective. We all know that women and men are different and in the world of love men usually do the chasing. So what happens when a superheroine with great power is dumped. Especially one with no discernible mentor figure. Remember Superman, Spiderman, the X-men, all of them had someone to teach them to only use their powers for good. G-girl never had this piece of advice.
The only down side was Anna Faris. She showed why she has been a staple for the Scary Movie series; thats the only place she works. She was decent but was a little flat to fit in with the rest of the cast. Luke Wilson's sidekick was brilliant as a pervert with no idea how to deal with women but always ready to give bad advice. Eddie Izzard is always an interesting Baddie...a al Mystery Men.
Uma is great as a superhero/slash real person. She wants to fall in love, she wants a day off every now and then and she can go absolutely nuts when she wants to. I was disappointed at the ending. It was like the Greek restaurant skit on Saturday Night Live "you lika the juice," you know the kind of skit that always ends poorly. Well the ending in this movie was just like it. Other than that and Faris I enjoyed this movie...I plan to buy it on DVD...besides G-girl reminds me of my wife....I feel your pain Luke
Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector (2006)
Please Stop!
At some point the American movie going audience should stand up and tell film studios we will not stand for this garbage anymore. I saw this movie on the tail end of a double feature at a drive-in theater. The first movie was Scary Movie 4 so as many rational people will tell you maybe I was a little jaded before the second feature started. I pondered this question and realized no, this movie is just terrible. It pretty much consisted of a drunk hillbilly running around with out the slightest hint of hometraining. By the way I saw this movie outside of Cincinnati, OH. That night it began to storm pretty bad during the movie. Why do I say this? Because I came so close to wishing it would turn into a tornado and tear the screen away. It was just that bad. I am just sad for Megyn Price. I really enjoyed her in "Grounded for Life," but this mess might have ruined her career. This is the kind of movie that I call a career killer, once an actor does one of these you will never seem them in a respectable film again. See: Chris Rock and "Pootie Tang," or any cast member of "Soul Plane." If you want to see non talent on a screen turn to public access on TV. I strongly advise you save your hard earned money.
