Uncharted (2022)
Barely an inconvenience!
How much I spent watching this movie thinking how the YouTube series "Pitch Meeting" would have fun reviewing this movie. The movie all in all felt like a suitably designed set of events rather than a trilling quest for a treasure. Most of the intricate details felt weirdly trivial and stupid.
Mimi (2021)
Kriti Sanon takes the leap!
Overall the movie doesn't really stand out with its simplified storyline and Bollywood drama while tackling (rather just introducing) a less talked about topic. Something which stood out for me was probably Kriti Sanon's performance as multiple times in the movie she made me sit back and realize the class of her performance. In my mind there are probably categories where I implicitly place the various actors and after this performance, Kriti Sanon has definitely made the leap to join actors who hold their own and give commanding performances as lead characters. Her performance made the movie worth watching. Great job!
Nomadland (2020)
Great scenes, good acting, average script
Chloe Zhao is able to create quite an immersive portrayal as the lead character adjusts to the nomadic way of life. As she drove through those exquisite scenes, I also reached for my car keys but was immediately made to realize the hardships that such a life entails. The movie does not probably advocate towards one lifestyle over the other but rather focuses on the people living as nomads as it captures the exquisite as well as the ugly. In a way the lead character is also learning to live with those choices as she gains skills to take on this new lifestyle while also making the sacrifices needed to live with such freedom.
Toofaan (2021)
Undercooked or maybe didn't have a recipe in the first place!
Probably the actors did their part, atleast they seemed to since the script didn't have many demands. Looked good on the eye but as a viewer you just keep waiting for something to happen which just does not. The dramatic milestones were under-measured.
Sweet Tooth (2021)
Great storytelling
The first season is quite nice when it comes to storytelling even though the story itself is not top notch. And I hate it when seasons end in mid-flight so I'll probably update this rating later.
Army of the Dead (2021)
poor on so many fronts
This was straight up poor on all fundamentals starting from the story. I can take zombies but some sense or atleast make an attempt. The movies just goes downhill and downhill from sensetown.

Aspirants (2021)
Good but could have been much better.
Initially was going with a higher rating but well 7 probably sums it up. The series had great pieces typical to so many awesome series from TVF. They are always successful in creating a environment where the audience inevitably starts treating the characters as people they know and care about. However this particular time I felt that the creators flirted a bit with overconfidence w.r.t what they could get away with considering the large TVF fanbase. The promotional product placement went too far while the story itself felt immature and farther from reality. Eventually the series just under performed across most facets which is a shame because it was such an enticing setup for the viewers.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (2020)
Superheroesque portrayal was maybe not required
The storytelling leaned a bit too much about how there were two superheroes amidst the people almost with the final showdown merely down to a fist fight. Would have loved for a more leader centric depiction of Tanhaji as it would have been the better message to pass on.

Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Looks good but thats pretty much it
All the rating is just how how the movie and its scenes appear throughout even though you are always waiting for things to happen till the very end. The depiction of that era is great to watch.

Sound of Metal (2019)
peaceful and love the narration
It is wonderful how the story tellers bring about a POV feel to the whole movie with brilliant sound direction and subtitles. The move engages you despite its notably slower pace. You go through the ride with the lead actor as he deals with losing everything and making peace with it.

Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Don't know if anything made sense
The movie seems like they hired a bunch of actors they liked, invited them on set, did lot of improvised scenes for fun and filled some vague storyline later with visual effects. I didn't expect much of a story but having something coherent would have made sense. The visual effects are good but not enough on their own.

Angrezi Medium (2020)
The story is too flat!
The movie was quite a poor follow up to Hindi Medium and lack a central theme like the school admissions in the first one. If the theme is supposed to be kids seeking the lure of studying abroad, the movie hardly touches it. Most of the story-line is just too convenient (read lazily written) and leaves Irrfan too much to do. Other character are not developed at all (was Kareena in the movie?) and this leads to drab watching.

The Dig (2021)
Good passive watch
Movie is all about the characters and not so much about the story. It follows a gentle pace suitable when one is looking for an easy to watch movie.

Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Bad on so many levels
Unfortunately, this was one of those movies where you start wishing for the end pretty soon. The movie fails on many things, primarily and the story and planning. Most sequences seem ill places and lack cohesion. Since this is not an isolated event in the DC Universe, one begs if questions have to asked of people making the high-level choices.
Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (2020)
Quite an engaging storyline and potrayal
Went through all the 10 episodes in one go! such was the grasp of the story. It did taper off towards the final stretch but still a valiant effort. This was a quite a unique series to be developed in India which tries to be true to the story presenting a level-headed screenplay and thankfully shying away from most Bollywood antics. The actors portray their roles well. I would have liked the show to have slightly more coverage on the scam as a whole rather than keeping a laser-eyed focus on Harshad Mehta as the mammoth nature of his crimes are only on dialogues but not so much in storytime.
Ludo (2020)
Extremely random, extremely fun
Nice to see such movies once in a while. The script is written beautifully as the various story lines continuously intertwine with each other without interfering with each character's own emotions and instincts. Unlike the many movies where seemingly indifferent character end up together to build a story, in this movie the 4 different story lines keep on progressing on their own which is wonderful to see.

Remember the Titans (2000)
Great movie all around
Loved all aspect of the movie, from direction to acting. The movie carries a strong message and the actors convey it quite well.

Zero Dark Thirty (2012)
Thats one well directed movie!
Really impressed how the story was actually focused around the years and years of hard work and sacrifices made by the intelligence agents behind the scenes. The core of the movie is beautifully summarized in the last scene, "... you must be really important ..." as Maya (Jessica Chastain) finds herself alone (much like for most of her journey) in a plane searching for her next destination. Exquisite!

Formula 1: Drive to Survive (2019)
Great insight beneath the superficialities of F1
After watching the first two seasons of the show, it has to be said that the Netflix team did a nice job picking interesting storylines dealing with drivers and bosses as the go through their paces in a season. These give a great backdrop to the drama unfolding on the race tracks itself.
On the other hand, I felt that the show could possible have more continuity in terms of moving race to race and having the season results in context too. Currently, each episode has its own timeline which does not give the viewers much context w.r.t to the ongoing season.

Tamasha (2015)
Oh man! Imtiaz Al
Imtiaz is my "almost" director for I know that he has the perfect movie for me but yeah, no yet. Its like a journey which reaches out to you in a way not many other experiences can. He doesn't give you an easy sail, there will be waves, stagnant waters, deserted ships, mysterious tunnels and eventually an unknown destination but you still want to keep sailing.

Chemical Hearts (2020)
Nice casual watch
Pretty much as the expectation, Chemical Hearts is nice teen movie about how teenagers are inundated with emotions which can sometimes get out of hand. The actors try to play their part for most of the movie but none of the performances really stand out in any way as the movie has many different little storyline which are never fully developed.

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020)
Pretty routine
It was one of those movies where by the end of it all, I was left thinking that they could have made many aspects much worse but the team does deliver a decent depiction of the story. It doesn't have anything extraordinary though, in terms of the story, acting, or the action.

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011)
Delivers on the expectations
Its another MI adventure for Ethan Hunt packed with tons of actions sequences which look unlikely right till the end. The storyline is just appropriate to support the action but yeah, stops making sense if you try to think about it. The Dubai scene is just too good.

Burnt (2015)
Exciting but at the end of it all... traditional
The movies, unlike Bradley Cooper's Adam's quest, is not quite perfect. The movie is not bad, it has a good feel about it, Daniel Brühl playing Tony Balerdi does a really nice job while Bradley plays another self centered and arrogant/genius character for most of the movie. You don't really feel the movie dragging at all but do feed some character and story-lines not 'cooked' enough, like the dynamics between Omar Sy's Michael and Adam. The movie also eventually disintegrates into a everything's great mood which is quite standard after all.
