The Hurt Locker (2008)
I loved this film...
...and I even watched, I'm sure, a highly edited version as I recorded on my DVR from FX.
I cannot imagine what an impact war has on a person, though I have friends who their husbands are veterans of both Vietnam and Iraq.
I can't speak to the accuracy of the history in this movie other than to say there was enough "action" to keep me watching.
The cast was phenomenal, portraying IMO real, raw human emotion while being in the middle of a war zone. You do not know if the person approaching you is doing so to kill you and the others around you, therefore you have to be alert and cautious and treat everyone as if they're going to hurt you. In that respect, I imagine it to be spot on correct.
This movie is totally worth the time and effort of sitting in your living room on a dreary, cold, raining/snowing Sunday afternoon...or any other time you are in the mood to watch a war film. Jeremy Renner will pull at your heart strings as you watch him go from "Big Billy Bad Ass Bomb Disposer" to "Man who cares about a child/children" and back again.
Eye Candy (2015)
Surprisingly good show. Bravo MTV
I do stand by the ten I've rated the show. My daughter (18 yr old) and I are watching this together. I am impressed by it so far, only being two episodes in. I'm a fan of this genre and so far, so good.
Trying to figure out who is who, what is what, is intriguing to me. The very first episode went so fast and so much happened, I kinda had to go back and watch some things again but now, I'm totally up to speed.
Killing Ben was the worst. IMO, it happened too soon but I suppose it was needed at that point. I'm excited to watch the rest of this season and am hopeful for a second one. I think the casting is right; the characters seem real. With one exception: Connor. I don't know what it is about him but he seems dull and life less whereas I think he should be loud and rambunctious. Maybe that will come in time.
If you are able to watch each episode, from the beginning, I'll say it's definitely worth watching this series. To be corny....two thumbs up from me :)
Train (2008)
This is a Train you are better off missing
I feel bad for Thora Birch, having to be in this movie. First of all, the holes in the plot are glaringly obvious. It starts out decent enough with the wrestling match and semi-decent storyline. Once the team misses their first train, having snuck out the night before to party, you could tell that the Russian woman who was tantalizing the coach was the main 'bad guy'. The gist of the movie is the train's purpose is the black market for harvested body parts. Near the end, Alex see's a little Asian boy and realizes he has her now dead boyfriend's eyes. What has me feeling bad for Thora Birch is one minute she's running from the grotesque conductor and suddenly she's coming out from underneath a bed in a compartment. That makes no sense. My hand to God, this has to be the worst movie I've ever seen. Most of the movie is shot in near pitch darkness, so much so that you can't tell what's going on because you can't see!!! That is so frustrating to me and I'm sure lots of other people. I couldn't figure out how Alex is going to get somewhere safe. She's in Russia and her passport has been burned. This whole movie - sucks. I'm so thankful I didn't pay to watch this. A free preview of Cinemax, recorded. Don't waste your time or money.
