Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014)
One of the most ridiculous and most overrated films EVER!
I am usually pretty lenient with films and rarely find films to be THIS bad. But Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania takes some of the most overused concepts in Bollywood films and puts it in one film. While the movie may be able to make money, it is definitely not the DDLJ of this decade - and it's far from it. The story line is absolute garbage, and the actors are not able to make up for it. Yes, both Alia and Varun look great in the film, but I personally do not care for their acting...other Despite being only slightly over two hours long, the movie felt like a drag to watch. Even the music is not up to par. The bottom line is that this movie does not live up to its hype and does no justice to Dharma Productions. Please save yourself the time, and if you are looking to watch a movie in the theater, go watch "Ek Villain" instead.
Ek Villain (2014)
A must watch film!
I must say that I really enjoyed this film - so much that I've watched it twice already! I'm not one for watching violent/gory films, but it was tolerable. There is a Ghajini-esque vibe to the film - another one of my favorite films - with the overall theme, but it is still quite different. The songs are absolutely marvelous, as expected. I've seen so many Riteish Deshmukh films, but this is the best I've ever seen him, such a relief after Humshakals.Sidharth Malhotra looked really good, and his expressions were great. I haven't watched to many fight sequences, so I can't really comment on the action scenes. I really liked Shraddha Kapoor's lively character. However, since film is not chronologically presented, knowing that she died in the beginning of the film was kind of upsetting for me...But overall, I really liked Ek Villain, and I thought it was even better the second time I watched it! Watch it for the music, to see Riteish in a role that is a complete antithesis to his former characters, and for Sidharth's and Shraddha's amazing looks...!
