Nice twist on a common theme
2 April 2022
Most people who saw this movie did not seem to like it. It does not have endless special effects like action sci-fi movies. Perhaps that is what they were looking for. When you see the word comedy with sci-fi you should expect that. Most comedy /horror or comedy /sci-fi movies miss the mark. This one does not. It is not laugh out loud funny. It poses some real questions if something goes wrong with time travel and then shows the would be scientists dealing with the problem in a humorous way.

I would definitely watch this movie again. I cannot understand why it has such a low rating.

Good story, bad acting
17 November 2020
The main problem with this movie is that no one can except Michael Biehn (Dr. Carol). The actors can say their lines, but they cannot act. The credit at the end says it was copyright 2016. It took 4 years to get it released. Better if it had never been released. Still I did see it to the end. The story did have potential if only they could have found good, or at least adequate, actors to star in it. Oh, Michael Biehn has only a small supporting part and his company helped make this film. He is in a sub plot which could have been dropped without changing the gist of the movie.

Killers (2010)

better lead needed
27 October 2020
This is a nice movie, but Ashton Kutcher does not quite ring true as the assassin. I know real spied are not to stand out and be noticed the way James Bond is. But still I think another actor might have been better in the action sequences. The rest of the cast is just perfect, especially Katherine Heigl.

Great Horror Movie
9 October 2020
Amanda Seyfried really shines in this movie. It is her's. The PR is on Megan Fox who is okay in the movie, but not great. This is a great horror movie and a great movie period.

Bionic Woman (2007)

Finally a good remake of a series.
29 December 2019
This is a remake of The Bionic woman 1976. Michelle Ryan's Jaime Sommers has more character then Lindsay Wagner's, but it jumps around a lot. The writers gave her more to work with, but were not sure in which direction to go. This actually introduces a new if awkward angle to the premise. Jaime struggles to keep her real work a secret from her sister. The show also has more realistic story lines. This is one of the few remakes of a series that is just as good if not better than the original.

Good movie,miscasting.

First, this movie is derived from a comic book, oops graphic novel. This is a pretty good crime movie. Crime movies do not have happy endings. Elizabeth Moss turns in a great performance. But Melissa McCarthy does not quite seem right in this role. Her character is not as simple as the other two women, and she does not seem to have a handle on it.

Better super hero shows out there
16 October 2019
I just watched season 1 episode 2. I doubt there will be a second season. This series has a silly story line and a mediocre actress in the title role. This would have been a better show if Ruby Rose (Kate /Batwoman) and Rachel Skarsten (Alice) had switched roles.

Runaway (1984)

Computer knowledgable should avoid this
27 September 2019
This movie like Michael Cricton's The Andromeda Strain is badly dated. We see double sided epoxy PC boards with DIP16 chips on them. These boards can't run at more than 10 MHz and well there was no way to cram that much computing power onto those chips. Even now with processors that run in the GHz range we have trouble making robots with those capabilities. The movie would have aged better if they had not opened any of the robots to look at what was inside. The movie gets better after the first 30 minutes when Cricton stops trying to wow us with the technology and just gets on with the story. As a blast from the past, the first robot they deactivate, an agricultural pest control model, is running on an 8088 micrpprocessor! An old 8 data bit device running at probably 4 point something MHz. It was the CPU in the original IBM PC. All modern full size laptops and desktops use a 64 bit data bus. Tom Selleck's female partner, Karen Thompson (Cynthia Rhodes), goes to deactivate a robot at a construction site wearing a skirt and high heels! Is she trying to injure herself by just walking around the site in high heels? Of course in those days, 1984, that was the uniform police women wore. I saw this movie when it first came out and liked it, but now I am sorry I watched it again.

Law & Order: LA (2010–2011)

Insults intelligence of viewers
17 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The series starts out well. There are slight differences in the Law & Order formula. Some aspects of the detectives personal lives are shown. It also has a different feel. It is bloodier. Some of the characters are less likable, such as DA Hardin, Peter Coyote in an excellent performance.

The series has one big problem. The producers take the audience for idiots. In episode 9, detective Winters, played by Skeet Ulrich, is murdered. And in a way that is impossible to rewrite later as corpse misidentified or some other plot trick. Also deputy DA Morales, Alfred Molina, is demoted back to being detective Morales. Yet in episode 17 Winters magically is back, no explanation! And further in episode 18 Winters is still there and Morales is now deputy DA again. Again there is no explanation. Not even a lame attempt by putting up one of those ubiquitous Law & Order text screens with "one year ago".

I stopped watching the show at that point. Save yourself frustration, do not bother starting this show. If not for the good quality of the first 16 episodes I would have given this show just a 1 out of 10.
