The Artist (I) (2011)
8/10
Nice Film
2 February 2012
The Artist is a compelling homage to the silent movies. It is not the kind of movie that will please all crowds. I liked it because I am a fan of movies and found valid the attempt of the producers in making a silent movie. The story line is quite silly, but delivers some goods.

The actors are so good, mainly the duo Dujardin/Bejo, both can express the gestures and expressions of the silent era. I agree with all the awards the film has been getting recently. I'm not sure it will get the Oscar for best picture, but I'm pretty certain that Jean Dujardin will get the statuette. I recommend this film for everybody.

INn a Nutshell: The Artist is a worthy seeing picture because it has a good story and a good cast. It's a black and white movie and it is silent because it pays homage to the 1920's movies.

The Other Victim (1981 TV Movie)
Good TV movie
24 August 2008
I watched this movie on television a time or two long ago and really thought it was very interesting. It shows the consequences of a rape from another point of view. In this case, the husband (William Devane) suffers from the raping of his wife (Jennifer O'Neil). It's a psychological drama with good performances. I remember a very tense scene in which Devane talks about the rape of his wife and starts to cry. That crying scene is amazing, the best I've ever seen. He starts telling the story and slowly the tears fall from his eyes and it's impossible to say that he's acting for it's too real. Don't miss it if it's on television.

Great comedy !
27 November 2007
The Farrely Brothers did it again ! One more good comedy for their list. I don't understand people saying this film is bad, cruel or something. This film is great, has a lot of funny moments, terrific cast and a rocking soundtrack. Who wants more than 1 hour and a half of pure fun, laughs and weird moments. The story is simple: Eddie (Ben Stiller) is a bachelor who finds what seems to be the perfect girl. He marries her only to find that she's a living nightmare. Later, he meets another girl and wind up falling in love with her. That's where the fun begins when he gets into a terrible mess with his wife and his new affair. The film is not politically correct, but fun don't have to be correct. Fun is fun and is meant to make you laugh and the film truly deliver the goods. If you are too moral about wedding, loyalty, good manners, please don't see this movie cause you probably will not like it. The ending really surprised me. I thought it was going to be something like sweet and warm. Instead, we have a real life, non-moral type of ending.

King Kong (2005)
Ape of a movie !
16 December 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I remember when I was 11 years old and my late father took me to the movies to see the new version of King Kong. The year was 1976 and I was impressed by that huge gorilla in the screen. The film instantly became one of my all time favorites. Almost 30 years later the film still capture my imagination as I have a copy in my DVD collection. Last night I went to a preview screen of the newest King Kong, directed by Peter Jackson. Boy, what a ride ! Jackson has made the best version so far. The film is really a gem in all aspects ! It will sure conquer a whole new generation of fans. Those who have seen the previous versions will notice some connections with this one. In fact, the film is much more a remake of the 1933 film than a update version as it was the 1976 version compared to the classic film. I won't tell much about the film so I won't spoil the surprises, but be prepared for an incredible mixture of drama, adventure, mystery, horror and romance in a roller-coaster of great thrills. It's where Jurassic Park meets the Lord of the Rings in the spectacular vision of Peter Jackson. **** Kind of a spoiler here ***** There are two unforgettable moments in this King Kong. The first is the fantastic battle between Kong and a trio of T-Rex. You just can't breathe in this scene. The second one is the grand finale at the top of the Empire States. I recommend this film for people of all ages, those who already are familiarized with the subject and for those getting in touch with it for the very first time.

Best film of the year
15 August 2005
I recommend everybody to go see this movie. It is great and I hope it will be nominated for best picture in the academy awards next year. Robert Rodriguez is going to make the sequel and I hope he make it into a trilogy. This movie is all "Star Wars" and "Lord of the Rings" wanted to be...Hey folks, I'm kidding ! Serious now, this is far the worst movie I have ever seen. My 11 year old son hated as well. What's the point of this "Sharkboy And Lavagirl" ? Even the 3-D effects are poorly executed. What a waste of time, cast, CGI, everything. Poor Robert Rodriguez, for directing this piece of garbish. I want my minutes back, I should have taken a walk in the park with my son instead. This movie should never be made and God helps us they don't make a sequel.

not outstanding as critics say
11 August 2005
This movie is not bad. It has a strong cast with Bill Murray and Scarlett Johnanssen in their best performances, a good director, but lacks timing. Bill Murray is an actor who comes to Japan to do a whiskey commercial. He feels lonely and ends up meeting Charlotte , played by Johnanssen who feels just like him. They develop a deep friendship that'll change their lives in many ways. Some viewers might get bored, like me, as the film unfolds very slowly. It's an average story about relationship and loneliness. No reason to call it the best film ever about loneliness. Wanna see a truly film about that, see High Noon, that is loneliness !

nice dish
21 May 2005
I've cook this dish several times and it always taste good. It takes a lot of ingredients, but it's quite simple to cook. I'm from Brazil and I like spicy food. The only thing that bothered me was to wait 4 hours until the dish is ready. But one thing I can tell: It's really worth waiting. I hope the next Robert Rodriguez movies on DVD come with a recipe like that as bonus. It's cool to watch those videos and the way Rodriguez leads us through it is a real fun. Rodriguez's recipe is nice but I can't say the same about his films. Only 4 or 5 films are worth seeing. My favorite is still "from Dusk til Dawn". I look forward to watch his segment in "sin city".

the saga ends
19 May 2005
I was 11 years old when I saw the first Star Wars. After almost thirty years I have come to see the end of the saga. My eyes were filled with tears when the end credits start rolling. I grew up imagining how it would be each and every chapter and now the dream is over. George Lucas ended his saga with a seal of gold. Episode 3 is everything the fans were waiting for: no stopping action, lots and lots of light saber duels and the final showdown between Obiwan and Anakin. You know the facts but you've got to see the images. This Star Wars beats all previous films but The Empire Strikes Back. To me, Empire continues to be the best of all. I won't tell more because I'm sure every fan will go to see for themselves and have their opinions. All I can say is thanks to George Lucas for Star Wars. He made me love the movies.

worst film I've seen
4 May 2005
This is far the worst film I've ever seen. Bad script, bad effects and bad acting. How did Samuel L. Jackson get into this mess ? Ice Cube is over weighted and should be at home singing his rap music instead of taking part on this piece of s...t. A waste of time and money. I pray they don't make a third installment on this series. I liked the first movie with Vin Diesel, but this one made me suffer through it. Very noisy, boring and exaggerated are some of the words I can find to describe it now. The boat race is well done but very unlikely to happen, just like the jump on the bridge in the first film. The difference is that with Vin Diesel is easy to believe. Ice Cube is big and fat, what happened to you, Cube ? Give your stomach a time and take some time to pumping iron. And Samuel, please, I respect you even when you do some crap like "the deep sea", but don't play me around or I will have to stop seeing your movies. I'm looking forward to see you as Mace Windu in "Star Wars", then I think it will compensate for this mistake.
