Well, I am not a fan of Cate. I recognize her talent, nobility and other qualities that makes her a '"Grand Damme" but I don't like her blaze and "British" behavior. There is something annoyingly fake there. Also I don't believe that she deserved the Oscar in "Jasmine" but OK, it was on a Woody Allen's movie. She did not convince me as a conductor either, as I have watched a few maestros live and filmed. But here we have a very high level of cinematography, directing, acting, and music scores. If it was to chose only between this and that "Everything" joke, I would vote for TAR. The way that the orchestra, the musicians and their feelings are filmed, is magnificent. Long but very satisfying movie. If you are also into classic music, you will love it.

Twisted.

This is the king of movie that makes you wonder, am I stupid not to get the meaning and greatness of it or what? As once somebody said, when you see very controversial critics for a movie, something big is hidden somewhere in it. Is this the case here? Maybe. I could not understand why the story should be told in such a twisted and tiring way. It may be my view of storytelling, but this is not my favorite way. See the movie, you may discover a gem, as others wrote here. I am not sure if they understood it or they wrote it just to be considered as knowledgeable "cinefils". Nice concept, very bad story telling, good performances and great directing. Not nonsense overall. To me at least.

Depressing depiction of the miserable life of the illegal immigrants in Moscow. Hardly any serious acting, many vulgar scenes, too much blood, and tiring move of the camera. Should have been some kind of a documentary, not a movie. I wonder how the hell it got so many awards and nominations. Being a movie fan for some decades, I can say with confidence now that minimum the 2/3 of any outsider movie with many awards and nominations are rubbish. Don't waste your time unless you are of the heavy cultural kind of person that applauds the below average films "because you found quality and hidden meanings" that the rest of us missed.

It is the first time since I started using IMDB that I watch a movie with an 8.2 rating and it is completely rubbish. Too cultural, too metaphorical, too symbolic, too much of everything but entertainment, meaning or art. I know, the big fans of progressive directing and twisted scenarios or symbolism would like to crucify me, but sorry guys, it was maybe the worst time waste of my life. Do not watch this unless you are a professional follower of emptiness.

I read the bad reviews but I did not listen, mainly because I never saw a bad movie with Noomi. So I saw it. Very disappointing. 4 just for Noomi who is still one of my favorites. I can forgive her for one or two bad movies.

4 stars only for Olivia Coleman who no matter what she plays, her performance is always Oscar-worthy and Ed Harris who the older he gets, the best he performs. Quite interesting scenario but with very big gaps and confusing turns, bad directing with too many tiring close ups and most of all, when the movie ended, it left me with a strange feeling of emptiness. Not a movie that stands up to the level you were expecting according to the great persons involved.

Good performances by all except the denominator herself. Good direction, but very poor scenario half of which is mainly a bunch of (mostly known) quotes. A bit unreal father behavior, who so easily accepts his daughter's misbehavior. I think that the director (and writer) wanted to depict how are things when a woman behaves like an "immoral" man in her relationships, but due to the twisted and exaggerated character of the denominator, it fails to convince.

Intriguing in the beginning, interesting as it progressed, boring and irritating further on the go.
House is the typical ass who levels all characters without even blinking. In many of the episodes I had the urge to punch him on the face if I were there. Medium acting, photocopied scenarios, and always but always there is a unique case hiding until the genius House discovers it after almost killing the patient. Not the best you can see, but not total trash either. Nevertheless, in more than one case I got the feeling that this series is addressed to low iq audience.

Lanthimos has always been controversial. 20 minutes into the long awaited movie, I wanted to leave. Perfect costumes and direction, impressing cast, but very annoying music in the background, and meaningless scenario. Sorry fellow Greek, you are obviously a great director, but this one was a big zero. I may be ignorant since i cannot understand the reason behind the big numbers of the critics, but i regret i saw it. But as someone said, when you hear best and worst critics for anyone, you are most probably in front of a genius. I hope this is the case.
