Dark (2017–2020)

Totally not a copy of ST
2 July 2019
Before I started "Dark", I read so many reviews of the series who were saying that this show is not a copy of "Stranger Things". Just that this is a show about missing children, and supernatural things the gouvernment wants to hide from the people.

Of course the series are not exactly the same, but the ideas of the shows are. Also you can see the similarities of the characters of both shows, its like they copied it and changed some little things afterwards to not make it that obvious. The result is a mix of a lot of characters, but none of them seems to be an original on its own, so far I have not seen a single character I really like and really want to know whats happening to them, because they are all equally lying and equally boring.

The storyline however is not too bad, even though the time travel idea of this show is not anything new, but still refreshing and interesting to see. Also the execution of the scenes are in most cases very well done, the dialogues are okay but nothing special, so its overall a watchable show. I hope I can get into at least 1 of the characters, because this is the main weakness of the show in my opinion, all of them are even talking in the same manner, you can feel how they are acting from a script whose authors didnt think about different habits in speaking at all, for example someone stuttering or using a high amount of swear words or phrases, its nothing, everyone, doesnt matter if boy or girl, old or young, they are all talking the same, and nobody could do a joke, even when there were severall opportunities to do so, not that I want see real comedy in it, its just unnatural to be that serious the whole time even when being with friends. Everyone acts the same, and its like watching some clones in different roles interact with each other, just to get the story going.

Its a lot of wasted potential, they could just hire a second or even third author just to personalize the dialogues, so you can actually tell the difference between the people not only by their looks, but also in their way they talk and behave, until now I dont know a single name except for Mikkel, thats how boring all the characters are.

Why so much hate?
9 February 2019
I expected nothing from this series, and i was about to drop the first episode within the first 5 mins, because the jokes were really lame and, well, it didnt look great at all. But then some weird stuff happens and the father showing up were actually really funny, especially the father in general, who saved the first episode for me and made sure that I will continue on this one. This show turned out to be more charming than expected, and during the second half of the very first episode I laughed more than in an entire HIMYM season. I dont think, that any current sitcoms got that big of a potential than this series, so if u dont compare it to Friends or King of Queens and also be a little bit open minded, you might be able to actually enjoy it. This series really tries hard to get you into the chill atmosphere of a good family, and they got me in the end with that adorable situation, who made all main characters really sympathetic. I feel like most of the people generally dont like any sitcoms except the classics, so dont mind those one star rates.

Ajin (2016–2017)

Ajin: Immortal 3D
15 April 2016
Most of the Ajin-Manga fans hate the 3D-Style the new Ajin-anime has. Especially the younger fan base cant understand the importance of this type of animation. A Seinen-anime like Ajin doesn't need a child-comfortable animation, it needs the 3D to create his unique fight-scenes which are that great that the action of common-known anime like One Piece looks cheap and frumpy. Of course, the face expressions of the characters suffer because of the 3D, but it doesn't matter in an action-splatter anime.

The action is not the only thing that sets this series on fire: The great idea and the well considered plot are hilarious. Its about Japan from where we stand with only one difference: Everyone knows about the existence of Ajin. Ajin are ordinary people from the outside, but they have some supernatural abilities, and the most important is that they are not able to die. If an Ajin gets killed, he will restore his life to full health. So only the humans, who die accidentally, by sickness or by murder and revive immediately, get to know what they really are. Exactly this is what happens to the protagonist, an ordinary high-school student who gets in a deadly accident in front of his friends and a lot of strangers. He revives before their eyes and needs to run away after; because there is a bounty of hundred millions yen for reporting an Ajin that leads to his arrest. So the big hunt begins, police officers, special forces, bounty hunters and other Ajin appears during the plot fighting each other, without the scheme of good and evil, in this anime every party has some good points to fight for. This plot is also really into details, so it doesn't let space for any plot holes and all explanations for supernatural stuff doesn't appeal appropriate at any point. The characters are like the plot: Special and well thought out. The protagonist looks in the first place like the anime stereotype: a regular student who gets some abilities and turn into a hero. The first two things match, the third point is argueable, because he gets more and more selfish and helps only himself. He is smart at some points and he learns from his mistakes which makes him to an understandable, real character. But the protagonist is not an exception, all of the leading characters are extraordinary, but to describe them would spoil a lot.

For all those fans of action and splatter and good plots, especially for fans from Parasyte, Tokyo Ghoul or God Eater is Ajin a big MUST. Same as the mentioned anime Ajin takes u on a trip you cant stop until the series is over, a trip where u will go on a ride through action, blood, drama and some cool patter without losing its speed, so u don't get the time to feel bored at any episode.

The only bad thing about this series is, that there is only a small chance of getting a second season, because 3D-animation are not that popular and gets a lot of hate from the community.

It is sad that these people will never appreciate this masterpiece without even watching it. I can just say that u better don't judge an anime by its unusual type of animation, being different is not equal with being bad.
