Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody (2022)
The Voice
Correction to the synopsis: A joyous, emotional, heartbreaking celebration of the life and music of Whitney Houston, THE greatest vocalists of all time.
I just sobbed my eyes out at the theatre while watching this brilliantly crafted masterpiece. Naomi, you absolutely nailed it! Definitely an Oscar-worthy performance.
Just when you think you have heard and seen it all from Whitney, this film takes you back in time and reminds you so well why she was called the voice.
Excellent direction, production and acting by all.
Ashton as Bobbie was phenomenal!
Whitney- we will always love you. Go watch it!!
Blonde (2022)
Directed by a man who doesn't understand women.
Such a pity and what a miss opportunity to allow a man to write and direct the inner story of a woman. Especially a fragile, broken, complex woman like Marilyn. As a long time Marilyn Monroe's fan, I have been looking forward to see this film as I thought to myself they finally found a suitable cast to play her. (Unlike the atrocious previous decision to cast the very masculine Michelle Williams!)
Whilst the attempt was to share Marilyn Monroe's suffering and abuse by the very sexist and misogynist Hollywood, Andrew Dominik completely failed to capture Marilyn's inner world and soul. It was so obvious to me that I was watching a movie written and directed by a man who simply does not understand women. But trying to. Trying reply hard. It felt disingenuous, empty and unrealistic. Sorry, but I felt nothing. In fact, I was bored to death.
Also, was it really necessary to show her breast in almost every single scene? Newsflash Dominik, women don't walk around topless all the time, especially not when feeling longly, lost and depressed.
On a positive note- Ana de armas gave an amazing performance and the visual execution and aesthetics are stunning.
Sad.
Brainless Killers (2015)
Hilarious!!!
Absolutely Hilarious!!! I could't stop laughing! what a brilliant, unique Aussie production. Awesome cast, story, jokes. loved everything about it. its the kind of short film, that is simply asking for more, I wish it was a web series, in fact- i think it should be! or a feature film. the cast was superb, the make up was divine and so realistic, totally professional cinematography, can't believe it was done in such low budget. that's an indication of true talent and a brilliant director. filmmakers and zombie lovers- this one is to watch and learn. and of course laugh your ass off at the same time. I'm a fan. a must watch!
