Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)
Not bad, but could have been better
The first Pirates of the Caribbean was a great hit. No argue with that. But why? Was it because it had great battle scenes with massive and expensive computer generated elements. No. Apart from Barbossa's crew the whole film is generally computer free (compared to many other films). Then was it because it had incredibly complicated story lines with many entwined fates and characters? No. It was all rather simple. So why was it that Pirates 1 became a hit? Comedy. It's because Captain Jack Sparrow is a spontaneous drunken comedian.
The second installment didn't play to much on this bit, so I hoped that the third would see where the second went wrong and correct that. It is such a shame it didn't.
I'm not saying that "Witty Jack" didn't have any funny or clever lines. He had some good bits in both the second and third movies, but never enough. It's like he's grown away from the silliness and spontaneity. Not entirely of course, but enough to make you miss it. Pirates 3 left me hungry for more, but knowing that there wasn't anything more.

Blóðbönd (2006)
No good!
I went to the premier of this film here in Iceland, as I was lucky enough to be a extra in the wedding scene. I thought it was really awful and I would have walked out of there if I wasn't waiting for my scene. The thing that I found the worst was the fact that it ends with the kid finding out. They must've been able to come up with a final scene better than that. Secondly, the film dragged on forever. I don't mind long films, but enough is enough. And they thinned it out with sub-plots and meaningless scenes which made me loose all story lines.
on the bright side, the actors were good, and the filming wasn't all bad either.
Icelandic reviews say it's great "compared to other Icelandic films". that's just wrong. why compare Iceland to Iceland. shouldn't they be comparing Iceland to other nations. or did they not find a good nation to compare to?
I'm not saying you shouldn't go and see this film, I'm just saying my opinion. There are other films you can watch that are far better.
and to top it off, they spelled my name wrong. if you watch the credits and see Erla Harðardóttir, think of me.

it IS funny
i know there are mixed opinions about this movie, but i think it's funny. i also think it doesn't have that much Python humor. it has some, but very little. but it's still funny. Graham is hilarious, one of his best movies, i believe (although i haven't seen much of his work, only the python stuff). Eric is funny, too. but i might be the only one to believe that. Cheech and Chong weren't funny at, though. Now, i have to mention the scenery, which is amazing. every set looks authentic and real. and the costumes to are beautiful. altogether, it's a marvelous film. and if you don't think so, well, that's your own fault. 10 out of 10
