Ok, I don't understand how this movie is not rated way higher. The humor was perfect, the songs are nothing like the latest musicals that get forgotten within the 5 minutes after the credits roll, and the social commentary is legit. I love how it takes itself lightly and builds on the "over" factor that suits the satirical tone so perfectly. Great songs, a few solid laughs-out-loud, and overall really entertaining movie. Especially in today's world, the contrast is sharp and the method of storytelling is old-school. Love it!

At the time when I watched this, the rating was 6.6. I hope it gets higher after people discover more of Dan Fogelman thanks to This Is Us, because this rating is just not fair.
I do not agree with the reviews that say this movie is "This Is Us in 2 hours." Though I do love the show, this movie is something else in itself, and it deserves to be recognized for it.
What it tackles is 'life itself' with all its ups and downs, and believe me, I'm no mushy romance lover. It's far from being sappy, it's so on point, subtle and down-to-earth that I have difficulty defining it as just another romantic movie or a typical drama. There were parts that I literally cried out in awe, covered my eyes in fear, or sat on the edge of my seat like it's one of those almost-frustrating thriller movies that slap you in the face at every turn. Of course it has its bittersweet moments, but I think this movie deserves a chance--and a higher rating--even from the harshest critics and cynics.

This movie was well done in so many ways! Style, substance, story, acting performances, and just the right amount of nostalgia... We enjoyed every minute of it, even though we didn't expect to. It's a modern classic that brought tears into our eyes. Bravo!

I rarely ever rate anything a 10 but this one deserves it, for the idea and innovation behind it if nothing else. I was already a big fan of anything Black Mirror, but this one exceeded my expectations. So fresh, so interesting, and so much fun especially for adventure game and choose-your-own-adventure book enthusiasts.

We have been big fans of Cuaron, which was the only reason why we sat through the first hour and a half, in hope for SOMETHING to happen. When it finally did, it was brief and just 'meh'. I respect the director's artistry, but the movie is definitely not for anyone except festival-goers and (pretentious) movie critics. The three stars I rated are for the main actress, who did a great job even though she's not a professional. In short, if you haven't been to Venice, Cannes and Sundance lately, skip this one on Netflix as well.
