The Formula (1980)
The Formula
Great Movie. Again George C. Scott and Marlin Brando did an excellent job of acting. Great plot. The movie develops as a wonderful mystery which evolves into a Good versus Evil. Brando excels with his portrayal of a greedy oil-rich company executive who is bent on keeping a synthetic oil production substitute a secret. Scott is a police detective trying to solve the murder of a long time friend who is associated with "the formula". The end is one the best performances of both actors. The plot and the relationship gets a little confusing with Marta Kellor's role. I think it is realistic of today's corporate scandals.
The High and the Mighty (1954)
The High and the Mighty
Great Movie. It is not a movie that is shown frequently. Too emotional in some scenes. John Wayne somewhat departed from his usual role for the period, but that is part of what makes this movie great. Dan Roman is a experienced pilot with a dark past; is the real hero who reminds Robert Stack of his responsibility of his ship. Robert Sttack also did a good job. This movie was the forerunner airplane disaster movies.Great music. Passengers did a good job of acting, but again some scenes were too emotional and took up too much time. Airplane enthusiasts would love this film due to the skill of the pilots, and the technical detail necessary for flying. The end is the best part.
