Hacksaw Ridge (2016)

Fantastic.

Mel Gibson is in my eyes a very talented director and this movie is a great example for my opinion. I liked this movie a lot and it surprised me in many ways.

I actually liked this movie so much, that i can consider talking about it in the same sentence as i would talk about Full Metal Jacket and Apocalypse Now. It may not be in the same level as those movies are, but it's in there. You cannot close Hacksaw Ridge out of the conversation when you talk about the best war movies of all time.

Apocalypse Now is in my eyes the best war movie ever and probably will always be. Full Metal Jacket in the other hand has a lot of other things that make it incredible. Hacksaw Ridge has a little bit of both that those incredible movies have.

Vince Vaughn surprised me in this movie. Since he did not suck as bad as i first thought he would. He sure is not R.Lee Ermey and he never will be. To be quite honest, no on will. Ever. But he did okay in this one and i have nothing bad to say about him.

So let's talk about the war scenes. I have heard a lot of criticism about them, but i found them actually very well done. I liked them a lot. I liked them so much, that only because of them i could say that this was the best movie of year and deserves an Oscar. Sure it's not only about them, but they were a real highlight in the movie with the incredible score.

Great story. I had no idea that it was based on a true story and that only blows me away. Amazing. Mel Gibson made a wonderful film and i sure hope that it will be a success at the circus called academy awards. This movie deserves the best picture.

The Accountant (2016)

Stunning.

I watched this movie without any expectations and it was worth every second of it. Great movie, just great. From the first scene to the last i was hooked.

The characters were interesting and the plot was very creative. This might be the best movie i have seen in a while that is considered as action. The theme in the air was not obvious and it took a while to really understand that the biggest thing in this movie is family. Even that there was a lot of other things happening.

Acting was phenomenal. J.K. Simmons once again left me speechless and i have to give a lot of credit to Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthall who had an amazing scene at this movie.

The action scenes were great. They reminded me a lot of John Wick. Which is great, because that was a good movie. The characters had depth, the plot was great and there were some very good twists. And what makes it even better is that they were really surprising.

Easily the best movie of 2016 so far.

Whiplash (2014)

Exhilarating, astounding and electrifying.

So. I have seen many great films in the passing years, but this was something of a kind. There are many other films that would deserve a review, but i have decided not to write them. This however got me so hyped up that i just had to write this.

It may not be the highest rated movie in my list, but it is really rare for me to give 10 stars. This movie will not be joining those few movies, but i'm still going to give recognition to this one by letting it be the first movie i ever wrote a review about.

The reason for that is simple. This was amazing movie that had incredible acting and a very dark, but highly interesting plot. The characters had depth in them and the movie itself gave you many ways to interpret it. And for me, that is a very important thing. Many of the movies that give you more than one way to interpret it are on the way to become classics. Usually it is the ending, but in this one there is many scenes through out the movie.

In Whiplash, i mostly mean the ending of the movie like i just stated, but the spark for that incredible ending scene comes through the entire film. Which is just great.

I also have to give credit to the acting in this movie. J.K. Simmons is in my opinion one of the best actors in the world right now. I am also not quite sure if this movie would have had that high impact it had on me if he wasn't in this one. Just fantastic.

In my opinion this should have been the academic award winning best picture from 2014. After all this is quite possibly one of the best movies of the decade.
