Sci-Fi As It Was Intended!! Real Sci-Fi 10/10
13 October 2023
Finally!! Real Sci-Fi without the boring and unnecessary horror and violence! INTELLIGENT well written story line, great acting, great camera work, just the right amount of effects. LOVE it! AND a big Thank You (!) for putting Owen Wilson into a lead role where he can shine. This is nearly as good as The Twilight Zone and the original Star Trek were in the 1960s. Very unpredictable...which is so refreshing after 40 years of formula TV/film. Quirky costumes and set design just adds to the uniqueness of the production. Hope the writer's strike doesn't cause too much of a delay! Can't wait to see Season 2 !!

Love Henry Cavill...what is he doing here?
8 July 2023
Loved Henry Cavill from the minute he came on the screen in The Tudors, but honestly....what is he doing wasting his time here? I hope they are paying him a packet, because this is doing nothing for his career. He's actually a decent actor, but the script for this tv series is so dumbed down, and the violence is 'Game of Thrones' level, without much cause. It is a rather pointless waste of time for those with a brain. Below average fantasy, lacking in depth and without much imagination. Feels like the writers are trying to guess what the audience will want to see next, instead of actually writing a proper script. Henry...get out while you can!!

A 'B Grade' Film
8 July 2023
In the old days, when hand held camera work was considered unartistic and for students who could not afford a proper camera, there were 'B grade' films. Basically films made without a budget, which may or may not have had any editing, a decent script or a proper camera crew. This film is rubbish, brings nothing new to the screen and after SO MANY Marvel films...this is just plain boring. The actors appear to be ok, but the film has been badly done...the costumes are average, the lighting is average, the script is poor, the plot is non-existent and there really is no point in bothering unless you REALLY HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DO.

Disturbing What we are Being Told is Funny
8 July 2023
Did not like this one at all...so glad I did not pay $$ to see it in the cinema. Really disturbing, and I am still at a loss as to how the idea of someone experimenting on and hence torturing innocent animals, is supposed to be funny?? Really? When did a lack of compassion become trendy? There is a serious #fail of values being exhibited here and it is not something you expect to see in a big budget, global release film. I definitely would not take kids to see it and I certainly would not recommend it to any teens who like animals or care about animals. The imagery is repetitive and it knaws at you in a bad way...Its just wrong... take your teenagers to see the latest Indiana Jones flick. It is a significantly better film.

James Spader is one of the Most Under-rated actors of all time
8 July 2023
I remember watching James Spader in some of his early films...when he was just into his 20s. Tuff Turf (1985), Pretty in Pink (1986), Mannequin (1987)...and the ist goes on. So talented, so diverse in his performances, he was the creepiest creep, the truly evil 'bad boy' and he brought a deapth to his characters...even in the smallest role, that outshone the actual stars. Rob Lowe was the 'cute factor', but James Spader can act. Loved White Palace, Loved Jack's back and Bad Influence (where he scared the heck out me), so believable in Sex, Lies and Video tape. SO good in The Secretary. He truly deserves significantly more recognition that he has received. Wolf has become a Halloween classic in our family and we went through two Stargate tapes before switching to DVD. Cried laughing for four years of Boston Legal and he is really the only interesting character in The Blacklist. I am only watching it because he's in it, and I don't give fig if he has lost most of his beautiful boyhood hair. He's freaking amazing.

Thank You SOOO Much!!
8 July 2023
A real trip back to the 80s. Just as fast and fun as the others, with the added nostalgia of seeing the old characters return in cameo's as their older selves. If you saw the first films as a teenager or 20 something, you will love this. Yes, there are BUGS...lots...So fun...no swearing (thank-you!), minimal blood, great CGI from a global list of thousands, great story...and of course with John Williams doing the music (and he's 91 !), it was always going to be first class. Thank you George Lucas...can not imagine what a dull world of entertainment our lives would have been, without you...we love you, even if you did sell out to Disney.

Absolutely Brave...
23 October 2022
This self made bio is probably one of the most unflinchingly honest, candid, transparent and 'real' personal pieces of non-fiction you will see from an artist. Mr Kilmer is truly a brave man for opening up his personal life so completely.

Shame on those who called him fat and made jokes at his expense, while he was going through such a frightening time in his life. Where are the apologies, now that the truth is known? The luxury of privacy has such a high price for those in the public eye. This is the truth behind a great talent and is definitely a film worth watching. I dare you to watch it with dry eyes.

Another DC Superhero film with ZERO plot
23 October 2022
I think I figured it out...in a nutshell...the best line from this film was: "a bad plan is better than no plan". Well actually, no...it isn't, and you would never hear one of the Avengers saying something as idiotic as that! DC just want your $$, so in trying to cash in on your superhero worship, they buy big name stars and leave them hanging without a plot line to carry off a film that is essentially utter garbage. Seriously? An hour in...still no plot? (roll your eyes here!) Clearly they care nothing about the actual film. They have a bad plan...and it makes for a bad film. That really is the defining point in the comparison between Marvel and DC.

Christian Bale for an Oscar?
9 July 2022
This IS a family film and it a SPOOF on Thor and his 'super hero' character...especially his supersized ego. Its light and fun and funny....but Christian Bale steals the show. As Batman, his talents were hidden under the cape and towel, but truthfully, his performance in this film is worthy of an oscar. His character is the sun, with everything else circling around him and he is marvellous (pun intended).

Too much in your face...no plot
7 May 2022
It's the new thing...action from start to finish with barely a breath between scenes and practically no plot. This seems to be what movie makers think we want? Yes, it is more like the gaming experience..except that gamers can stop the game, use the loo and grab a snack. You can give your brain a break and process all of the high end action of a game. Not so with a film...nearly 2 hours of simply non-stop high action, violence and special effects gave me a headache and all the while, I kept looking for the plot. No plot, no emotional investment in the film...no emotional tie in...no reason to be there. I left before the end. I love the actors, it was great to see all of them again...but the story line was non-existent and I don't really care how it ends...there will be a sequel.

So Authentic!!
25 October 2021
Although one can not help but love Benedict Cumberbatch in the modern adoption, this particular classic version is truly superb. Jeremy Brett is incredibly believable and authentic! Finding this series is like finding a $50 note you put away for a rainy day and forgot all about. Genuine smile material!

This is it....
10 April 2021
This is your last chance to see all of these amazing actors on screen. If you are seriously more interested in the plot...or the special effects, then the actors....find another series. This is the place where those of us who have grown up with and then lived through each and every single Start Trek (sat on the floor next to my dad in the 1960s), TNG (sat on the floor next to my daughter in the 1980s), Voyager (watched with my best friend in the 1990s), DS9 (watched x3 after I moved to Australia), and Enterprise (watched with my husband).....come to see our heroes one last time. They changed the world, and I don't really care what they do...I am simply thrilled to see them. Patrick Stewart is 81yrs old. He's my captain....as long as he is able to be on TV, I will forever be a part of his crew.

Live Long and Prosper...
