The Witcher: Everybody Has a Plan 'til They Get Punched in the Face (2023)
The hardest episode to review
The Good:
Fight with Vilgefortz was amazing, and is hard seeing as it was reading the books how much of a beating Geralt takes. Vilgefortz is super OP and he finally showed it.
Tissaia lightning I don't remember from the books, but it was great. Francesca finally using magic too.
Ciri people tend to forget: She was trained by witchers and they above human physically and great sword fight. She had a really tough training with swords and magic that netflix failed hard to show, she is actually a monster fighting and has the potential to be the most powerful being in the witcher lore;
Bad:
Radovid plot is a bad joke. I don't know that character, he can't be the Radovid we know, because LITERALLY the only thing they have in common is the name.
Killing Fillavrandrel in 1 sec was weird. He might be one of the most important elves from the lore and was killed like it was nothing, no drama, but they sure did a bit of drama with that old character that doesn't even exist in the books. See what netflix does? That does not make any sense.
Stregobor casting fire was very nice but WHO knows FALKA, only who read the books. And that is a very interesting plot.
What summons this episode is: could have been awesome but things don't have the weight they should. Some phrases from the books are said without meaning to someone who only sees the show. So it really suffers from the sins of what happened before. Sad.
Supernatural: Drag Me Away (From You) (2020)
Supernatural towards its end
We are now at season 15, 4 episodes to the end. THAT'S the main issue here. You see, this is not a horrible ep or anything like it, maybe a 6.5 on its own. Filler in all the meaning of that word, with 5 minutes of main plot talk.
EVEN BILLY says: "working on a case?! now?!"
Yeah, we watchers really feel that too. Maybe expectatios were too high? Sure they were, but come on, there is a point where it gets bad because of expectations and where it's just time waste. We are 16 episodes on season 15 with 2, maybe 3 eps focused on the main plot(the first ones of the season).
So yeah, FEEL FREE to skip the entire ep if you're only into the main plot.
EP: 6.5
IN SERIES CONTEXT: 3.5
AVG: 5.
The Witcher (2019)
From someone who read the books and played the games
It is a first season of a very complex universe. It requires a build up and the first season did well. Remember that it is adapting TWO books of short stories, so it's A LOT to go through in 1 season, and they didn't even adapt all short stories.
Saying that, I think they did a good job of telling the chosen stories. Much of what needed to be said was said, and didn't feel rushed or confusing.
Showing events from different times was good! If they didn't to that, Ciri wouldn't even be present in first season, only at the very end! Yennefer backstory was nicely done too.
Somethings did feel fast, the moment I felt it the most was at "the end of the world" story, much was cut, but it's ok...
The acting was good. Calanthe, Geralt, Yennefer, Jaskier and Ciri were very good.
The show started very bloody, a bit more than needed for TV, but the books are graphical as it was showed, so ok.
The monsters can get better, BUT don't be worried, it's good enough.
REMEMBER: the source material is excellent and it is a high cost series. When I say it's ok, it means it was well adapted, and very good compared to other series.
Supernatural: Our Father, Who Aren't in Heaven (2019)
This is not a filler episode
The story moves on, and interesting things happens. Enjoy a good supernatural episode.
