Hostel (2005)
Typical American view of Europe
This movie really pisses me off. For one thing: almost ALL people in the movie in Amsterdam speak German! I'm from Amsterdam and I can tell you: we hardly have any Germans over here in summer or whatever season. they all go to the coastal area. so it's just plain stupid and I actually take it as an insult that the director didn't even have the courtesy to study our beautiful country with more interest before placing scenes here. they weren't even shot in Amsterdam!! Plus it's not all potheads and prostitutes here. only in the red light district and thats like 2% of the whole city, let alone of Holland in general. In the eyes of this stupid typically American director Europe is a dark seedy place, made up of sex, drugs and violence, which is totally untrue. Realistic movie?? forget it. I'm not saying that these things don't happen in Europe, but it for sure happens as much in the "beautiful holy" US of A.
what an absolute waste of time, money and anything involved in fimmaking. it was almost as bad as "hide and seek" with robert deniro (witch is by far the WORST movie I have ever had the displeasure of laying my movieloving eyes on). don't even bother watching it. especially for European people.
The gore in the movie is just so-so, you hardly see anything. and what you get to see is so badly done, you wish you haden't seen it. the story line is totally non-existent and the acting is very very poor.
And to Quentin Tarantino, who willingly gave his good approval and name to this disaster on screen:: baby, what have you been on lately?
Chôjin densetsu Urotsukidôji (1989)
The power of legend:: also for "some" women.
What I've always loved so much about this first series is that it's more then just gore and extreme sensuality. That only empowers the effect it has on the mind. It's the power of the legend, the primordial story of love, lust, desire and power that makes this film worth seeing. Not only for adolescent, oversexed/gore loving boys, but for some women also. If you can stomach it of course. Cause Urotsukidoji is simply not for the weak hearted. It is Japanese: the sharp Christian line between good and evil (is the Chojin good? Is Kyo-O evil?), sugarcoated with a Hollywood-sause is simply not to be seen here. Thank God! Cause thats what makes it so interesting. The graphics are great, the storyline complex, the images highly erotic, dark and will not leave your mind easily.
A must for all anime/hentai/horror/cult-lovers!!!
Topâzu (1992)
Erotic and intellectually interesting
Very erotic and sick at the same time. This movie leads you down the dark allies of human sexuality. But it touches more than the loins. This is mostly because of the innocence of the Ai, the main character. Her quest for true love and happiness stands in a deep contrast with the dark nighttime of Tokyo, ridden with perverse sex and cocaine.
This movie is a must for people interested in culture, sexuality and gender roles. It gives perfect examples of how power play somehow gets us excited, but mainly rests upon images of gender and sex we have invented inside our culture. It's a little Foucault, it's a little de Sade, it's just very interesting.
