Word Party (2016)
Exactly the way you don't want your kids to talk
My god is this show obnoxious! Way too hyper and loud for the audience they want to attract. This is supposed to help toddlers learn words and pronounciation, but how can they when the dialogue, which is simply cringe worthy, is contantly accompanied with loud music, bells and wistles.
The voice acting is just horrible and done by adults with a high pitch auto tune, and spoken in a way no kid would ever talk or relate to. Come on guys, there are enough talented child actors that would do a great job at this.
And yes, I know this is a show for kids so I shouldn't hold it to the standard of most adult shows. But I do judge it by how much it entertains or educates my 2 year old, which it absolutely doesn't. At no point does my kid feel the need to interact with the characters and she simply walks away, focussed on literally anything else.
Sharkdog (2021)
All adults are stupid and oblivious so do whatever you want!
This show is so devoid of any shred of personality I simply can't stand to even have it on in the background.
The entire premise of the show is about a boy having a shark/dog hybrid and all the while hiding it from the adults in his life. Which would be fine if there was anything more to it, but there really isn't any substance other than that.
One of the 2 lead characters is a boy and he has a shark that acts like a dog. That's it. That's his entire personality, he has no other character traits.
And the other lead, the sharkdog, is just a dog that likes fish and swims very well, that's all the substance you get.
Luckily my 3 year old was fed up with it too after 4 episodes, and trust me she likes EVERYTHING, so I was spared further torture.
The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea (2000)
Awful awful awful
What was up with this movie?! The 1989 original was so beautifully drawn, the songs were absolutely great and the characters had depth and were mezmerizing.
Why was the sequal so terribly boring and bland? The dialogue was cheesy and uncomfortable.
And what was up with the horrible animation? It looked so incredibly bad! The facial expressions were completely off and even creepy at times and the voice acting was totally out of sync. It's like they had a $50 budget for this movie and $40 left over after finishing it.
Why did they do this?
The Walking Dead (2010)
Further and further downhill
The first 4 seasons were genuinely great! Mostly interesting characters with depth and good archs. Season 5 was okay but became a bit messy. Following seasons became a who's who of human stockpiles. Way too many characters, descisions that made no sense, blurry storylines and no character development.
Entering season 11 and I truly have no idea who most of these people are anymore, what they're doing and why.
A real shame..
Get Out (2017)
Creepy but also predictable
This movie took a lot from the Skeleton Key, but where the Skeleton Key revolves around voodoo Get Out is purely psychological.
However creepy, the movie is also very predictable. I kinda got what was going on about 30 mins in and was hoping there would be more to it. There wasn't.
That said, excellent acting and directing!
Our Planet (2019)
Repetition and blame
Mostly re-used or leftover footage from previous documentaries, in which David keeps telling us over and over again how we're destroying our planet. Not a fun watch
