Shark Attack 3: Megalodon (2002)
It does have redeeming qualities.
My granddaughter saw Jaws and Shark Attack 2 (see comment on Shark Attack 2). Her visit is over, and she is now looking to watch more shark movies. She already knows that we will not allow her to watch some of them so she asked at the local video store for a list. We went through them and agreed to let her watch this one. My granddaughter is no "stup", she informed me of anything that was "real". She took it all so well and was so interested in the "real" stuff we have agreed to let her watch some of the National Geographic Shark movies. She did ask about the girl on the boat trying not to laugh while saying "Oh my God" about someone dying. She thought it was "rude".
At age 7 we do not want her scared to death by movies. So this film was perfect. She enjoyed it without fear. I always say everything has good points and a "safe" Shark movie for a 7 year old is extremely hard to find.
If you are actually looking for a "good" shark movie, I would pass this one by.
I can see people who liked Yor, Hunter of the Future liking this movie.
Shark Attack 2 (2000)
Well, there are many much better films but everything has some good about it.
My idiot daughter-in-law let my granddaughter see Jaws, which had the expected result - scared her silly. My granddaughter was supposed to visit family who live in Galveston, she was very afraid to go. So having heard about this movie, we rented it and watched it with her, she laughed at the roaring sharks and was no longer afraid. To finish off this movie's good works, we took her to the zoo and talked to "the shark keeper". They were both laughing themselves sick over the roaring sharks. She even got to "pet" one. So without a doubt, in my book it does have redeeming qualities.
However, if you just want to watch a good movie, this is not it.
But, if you liked "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes", you might also like this one. You never know!
Running on Empty (1988)
Really well done movie, original concept
I was very impressed with the original idea for this movie. The characters were not your average expected radicals, they were normal people with convictions who placed themselves and their children in an abnormal situation.
The story line is a family on the run from the FBI. The parents were anti-war activists during the Vietnam war. They had bombed a napalm factory, severely injuring a security guard who was not supposed to be there. The oldest son is now 17 and finding the life on the run hard. He is a gifted musician with a chance to go to Julliard. He also finds first love. Now it is up to the family to deal with this along with other pressures.
