Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)
In my objective & subjective opinion, perfect movie!!
With the brand new release of the 4th movie in theaters, my family & I just watched this first movie today (May 11th 2024) - complete perfection!!! I remember I loved it when I saw it in the theaters in 2011. Forgot how excellent it is, looking forward to watching the other two before we all go see the new fourth one 😎 It's completely engaging and top notch talent of James Franco, John Lithgow, David Oyelowo, Freida Pinto, and of course the infamous Andy Serkis. Even the performance of the minor characters of the police scenes was completely on target. Also, the special effects of the film combined w/the amazing cinematography, all by an emotional score, is why I feel this movie is a 10/10!!
Ahsoka (2023)
A New Hope for the Star Wars Franchise!!!
What I just witnessed, starting right at today's 9PM EST release date, to me, is *pure* original trilogy Star Wars Cinema quality. I think everything, the writing, acting, special effects, action, was all perfectly executed AND I'm sure many are already praising how harmoniously it all was blended by the score!! My friend and I literally thought 91 year old John Williams had came back to compose some fresh Star Wars music, yet, it had somehow had the feeling of the original trilogy's music. Absolutely incredible directing for both episodes 1 & 2. I'm still in shock to be honest! As a StarcWars fan, I of course knew this series was going to be well done with Filoni at the helm, although, I *truly* wasn't prepared for brilliance not seem since the world was introduced to New Hope in my opinion. Yes, some may scoff at that comment - I back it!! Go ahead and scoff all you want. In fact, I titled my review a New Hope because although the toxic so-called Star Wars fans complain anything and everything new SW that owning company Disney puts out because primarily they are against Disney, they'll have a hard time coherently criticizing these episodes. I'm so confident of how objectively well done this series is, I think there is hope that it brings fans together and the toxicity will stop!
Cat Daddies (2022)
Great film, I didn't want it to end!
A purfect movie because it was very unique to see the several stories of how cats can affect people in a positive way. People don't realize the intelligence cats have overall and the emotional connection they can nurture with people, if only that person invests in them.
Also, just seeing the different ways people live life with cats, from homeless to firefighters, was definitely something that makes you think "I wonder how other people live with their cats and how they treat them?"
In close, when leaving the theater, I heard someone say "I think I'm going to get a cat!" That says it all, doesn't it?
Willow (2022)
Being objective - sick of troll reviews
Watched the first two episodes and the filmmaking makes it FEEL like you are watching a true continuation of the original Willow film, especially w/original actors recreating their characters perfectly. Objectively, what others are stating in reviews here about some of the dialogue and new characters, are for the most part accurate. From my experience of watching the first two episodes, it seems obvious (in my opinion though), that tailoring to a teenage/early 20's age range is happening. This oftentimes creates unnecessary characters that hurt the overall story and show quality. Another thing I noticed was the music at the end of the episodes is the type of modern music tailored to that age range and not to mention the chorus on episode 2 was incredibly annoying!! It could've been better to keep the dramatic score at the beginning the episodes throughout instead of seemingly tailoring like I mentioned. These things alone I think might influence people to feel like they have the justification to troll, or emotionally give it a 1/10. I feel the capturing of the continuation of the Willow film like I mentioned and the cinematography alone warrant a 3/10. I'm an original Willow fan and enjoyed Warwick Davis' acting and character in the episodes. Also, the story was intriguing enough, not to mention I think they did a great job of explaining "what happened" since the original film. Due to what I mentioned above about the tailoring, I'm rating it a 5. Also, I'm "keeping it real," I don't think I'll be watching episode 3 when it comes out because I'd rather watch other shows for now...
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
A fan film is EXACTLY what we need now!!!
I'm giving 10 stars to offset the immature and attention seeking narcissistic 1 Star ratings. I would probably give it a 10 anyhow because there were so many surprises as a huge fan who has seen ALL SW films (except new hope) in the theater when they came out! The positive emotions and exciting fan surprises brought me back to the wonderful feelings of when I was real young and saw Return of the Jedi in 1983. Any extreme so-called fans that say this film is "bad" is an idiot. That is my opinion and several others which have vast knowledge of Star Wars, strongly devoted to the franchise. My friends all loved it, the "critics" are not seeing how it's all related like the vastness of the Harry Potter saga. If you know the past events of Potter, whichever film you are watching is enhanced from earlier films. Anyhow, DEFINITELY better than The Last Jedi so it's a HUGE win!!
Replicas (2018)
It's unique, be open
Did you notice that the low ratings like "1" must have been written by attention seeking people because they "reviewed it" more than 30 days before it was released anywhere, so they could not have possibly seen it! All I know is the story is unique (in my opinion) with a twist, so I ended up really liking it after I left the theater. Probably more like a 7 overall, but liked the ending a LOT and I'd watch a sequel.
