Luckiest Girl Alive (2022)
Better than I expected.
I always go on IMDB to know if I should watch a movie or not based on the reviews. I came across some reviews that said this movie was not worth watching and so I almost didn't watch it myself. However I felt like I really wanted to see what everyone was talking about for myself so I went in with a critical mind. This movie felt like so much more than the reviews I read and I was reminded to make up my own mind about things before trusting what others say. This movie was beautiful and important. It really touched on the way trauma shapes our lives and our choices. It gave insight, and an important message to rape vicitims or any individual who has felt powerless in any way. You matter, your feelings matter - you do not need to live life small pleasing those around you to be likeable and accepted. In the end, it was about honesty, and truth and living out ones truth - which often times involves feeling the pain of your reality and the pain of no longer fitting into society the same way. This movie inspired me, I am very impressed and very glad I watched it. Thank you for making a movie this impactful. This movie may only speak deeply to those sitting with their own heavy traumas - And for those who have been aware of all the ways it impacted their behavior and life choices.
Monster (2022)
Why make this into a series?
It is traumatizing enough reading about what Jefferey Dahmer did, why do we need a series on it? I don't understand the purpose of this at all. I don't think something this disturbing and disgusting should be made into a series no matter how good the filming or acting is. There is no happy ending to this, so many people suffered and lost their lives horrifically. And to act out what had happened to real victims feels like they are taking things way too far - this is not exactly a documentary. This is some form of sick 'entertainment'. It feels insensitive and unnecessary and I just feel shocked, angry and frustrated that this has been created.
Tall Girl 2 (2022)
Inspiring movie!!
It is so refreshing to see a movie aimed at young people addressing such a prominent problem that can hold us back from our potential. I think many can relate to this, we all seem to have that inner critic. I think this will empower and enable many that there is no need to be perfect and it is okay to struggle with a negative inner voice. And to know that you can overcome it. It is sad that this movie got such a low rating. I guess not many saw the meaning and power behind this what they addressed.
Our inner critic is our biggest enemy and it is so important to learn how to manage those voices to live the life we truly desire.
The House (2022)
Very intriguing!
I loved the art style and the storytelling. What a beautiful and symbolic journey. I particularly liked the first story. The darkness, the music, the laughs - so darkly poetic.
The Island (2005)
A deep movie
I found that this was a great movie, it had great actors and the acting was good. To me this movie reflects how we are in this world. How many do not question the system that we are in and there are just a few who feel there is just something not right. I feel like we are so duped and brainwashed in the world we live in, haha and this movie can inspire some thought into the reality that has been created for us.
The Letdown (2017)
We need more series like this.
I wouldn't usually write a review but this show is just so good. Most series and movies make things unrealistically perfect, I enjoyed how raw and honest this show is, relatable and real. It is refreshing to come across something like this, nothing is dolled up, it speaks to the human in us all. And it helps us to accept ourselves in our imperfect and messy lives. It shows us that it is okay, and I feel this is needed in the world we live in. Where there are unrealistic expectations created for ourselves to be a certain way because of what we see in mainstream television. The negative impact it has on us it not given enough attention to.
I loved Audrey's character. She made me laugh a lot. The humour in this series is brilliant! I wish there were more series like this out there.
