The Passion of the Christ (2004)
A Beautiful, but Haunting Film
Before watching the film there are a few things to consider:1)It is extremely violent and morbid.2)It's very down to earth and realistic unlike other depictions of the Passion.3)If you are religious, there is every likelihood that the guilt this movie makes you feel is heart-wrenching and perhaps could be emotionally traumatizing in some people. As far as historical accuracy goes, it is a very well-researched portrayal(although with minor errors)of these events. Those who believe this movie is anti-Semitic are missing the point. Both the Romans and Jews(as well as Jesus himself)share the blame.Theologically speaking, every person does. Some may not like Catholic concepts and traditions being intermingled with the story, but these do not take away the meaning. If you're looking for a realistic portrayal of Jesus' Passion, you will not be disappointed. P.S. Some scenes(Judas' suicide, The scourging of Jesus,...) are intense and frightening. There is a reason for the rating.
A Walking with Dinosaurs Special: The Giant Claw (2002)
Brilliant documentary
This wonderful spin-off of 'Walking with Dinosaurs' features zoologist Nigel Marven as a time-traveling scientist who explores the Nemeg Desert, now Mongolia. His mission is to track the owner of a massive claw,Therzinosaurus, and determine its true habits. On the way he meets the many animals of the region, like the 40 foot long Tarbosaurus, the famous Velociraptors, and the ancient bird/dinosaur Mononykus. The way the actor interacts with the animals seems so real, and the CGI surpasses the original WwD. Even better is the long-awaited appearance of feathered dinosaurs, something the original series lacked as well. Look into this and its sequel,'Land of Giants'.
Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie (2004)
All right, for 4Kids at least...
I think people are very critical about this movie. Many reviewers call it a '90-minute commercial for Yu-Gi-Oh cards', 'the joy of watching people play UNO', or(this one is laughable)'lifeless and dull'. That is absolute rubbish. All of those reviewers were people who know NOTHING about the real Yuugioh series. Anyone who knows the series is bound to like the movie, so take a kid with you who likes Yuugioh. If you are a parent who is ignorant of Yuugioh, ask your child to guide you through it, as I'm sure he(or she)will be happy to do so. Another note to parents, this movie contains some suggestive themes of violence and some mild sensual references(in the design of the female monsters) so make sure your children are mature enough to understand. Also, some things that were edited out of the U.S. version appear here(Spoilers Ahoy!), including Pegasus's wine-drinking, Injection Angel Lily's giant needle, and a nude(but censored) Fairy's Gift. Overall, an okay movie.
