Bai She 2: Qing She jie qi (2021)
Awesome movie
This movie was great. I didn't know what to expect. I know very little about East Asian mythology which I assume is the basis for this movie?
The animation was amazing. I know this type is what's popular and they did a great job. This was like Tim burton did an anime.
The plot made sense. The bad guys made sense. The good guys made sense. The weaponry made sense. The characters just made sense. Some good basic plot twists.
There's nothing inappropriate kids wise. I watched it with my young daughter.
Overall another good pick by Netflix. They've leaned into the whole anime world and this is another victory.
Dancing Ninja (2010)
Here b/c of the Kurtis Conner review
I don't know what's going on in Hollywood. Do they just have money to throw at anything regardless of how horrific a script is?
Really? This guy beats up a street gang then he teaches them how to dance??!!! What?!!!! Him ogling women suddenly unlocks his ninja powers??!!! This is such a weird and lazy movie by some pent up perv.
Even the greatness of David Hasselhoff could not save this movie.
That said, the women looked great. If that's all you care about, throw it on mute and enjoy.
Chris Farley was so great in Beverly Hills Ninja. It was stupid but coherent and funny. This was a disservice to his legacy.
Black Adam (2022)
FINALLY, DC is back on track.
About a decade ago me and another comic book nerd were discussing the future of the MCU & we agreed Dwayne Johnson should play Namor if he joined, but we both wanted to see him as Black Adam as he was the perfect fit.
We were right.
Every character was great and played their parts well. Decent amount of comedy mixed into a ton of action.
Hopefully these writers / producers have a big part in the future of the DC universe. So many great characters but poor scripts have given the MCU a huge lead. BvS sucked. WW was good. JL meh. Aquaman meh. First suicide squad trash. 2nd one alright. Harley Quinn was good. Shazam trash.
I came in expecting to be disappointed. Left satisfied.
DC League of Super-Pets (2022)
DC animated >>>>>
As proven again in this movie, DC kills it with animation. Great job, some goood laughs, good action. Kids loved it. Recommend for the whole family.
And stay for the after credit scenes!
iZombie (2015)
Surprised how much I loved this show
Witty. Original. Lovable characters. Decent action. Ever went stale.
Give this a chance for a few episodes. The main character is great but the side characters are also doing a lot of lifting.
Good times and if you're squeamish, it's not overly gross.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Lives up to the hype
For those of us who grew up with the other Spider-Man movies, this was great. For those who haven't seen those, don't worry, it's easy enough to follow.
Boss Level (2020)
Entertaining and funny
Grillo did a good job as the lead. The assassins are hilarious. Not bad at all for a free movie on Hulu.
Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
"What in the AARP??!!"
A lot of folks are purposely downplaying the movie b/c Lebron James has the audacity to speak about equal rights.. Don't be fooled. It's not a classic but it is what it is - a decent family movie with cartoon characters in it. Some funny moments. Who doesn't like Don Cheadle?
Animal Crackers (2017)
Good movie with a great cast.
Your kids will love it mine couldn't stop laughing. Keep them coming Netflix.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Possibly the best comic book movie of all time
They did such a tremendous job with this movie. Yeah it's animated, but it's unbelievable
Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)
Awful
Somehow the movies keep getting worse. Bravo Michael Bay
Billions: Chucky Rhoades's Greatest Game (2019)
Best episode so far
5 seasons in, this episode was the pinnacle. Perfectly done to show you just how great these characters are
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Huge disappointment
DCEU has had so many cheesy films, but the original WW was a good movie. Nothing forced, everything flowed.
This was a disaster across the board. Terrible
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
I ASSUMED LIKE MOST DC MOVIE IT WILL SUCK
It doesn't. I'm a fan of both DC and Marvel. I've been disappointed by so many of these terrible DC movies. This one actually is engaging from beginning to end. A cohesive plot with good characters. It's kind of like Deadpool.
Aquaman (2018)
Wish it was on mute
The visual was great. Fight scenes looked good. The actual dialogue was abysmal though. Awful. Every chance they got to go with a cheesy line, they did. The standard was set so high by Marvel that I can't believe anyone thinks this movie was good.
