Worried About the Boy (2010)
Boy George & Kirk Brandon
It's a shame there is no Theatre of Hate songs in this 80's strory which is the band that Kirk Brandon was the lead singer. This is an interesting story from Boy George's Autobiography one which Kirk Brandon denied & sued Boy George in Court & lost. I found it entertaining enough & there are lots of 80's tunes in here but no Kirk Brandon songs maybe due to copyright but it would have added some context to the story. Apart from that it was an otherwise piece of 80's nostalga with a story that many may not have previously known about.
I thought that this was well acted & both actors who played the two main characters were very good & convincing playing Boy George & Kirk Brandon (who was Rob Stark in Game of Thrones). Do you really want to hurt me is used in the film & suits it perfectly as you will find out if you warch this gem. There are many other well known 80's musicians and icons who are scattered throughout the film so see how many you can spot.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Oh dear - no-Kenobi !
I thought The Mandalorian was bland this is a boring snooze fest. Disney should be embarrassed to call this dull as dishwasher entertainment. The first episode showed some promise and ot dropped off a cliff from there it's predictable & written for a five year old.
There are no surprises just each episode seems to lack any excitement or decent story to hold onto. I lasted three or four episodes that became so mind numbingly dull I couldn't force myself to watch any more.
Rooney (2022)
Rooney in his own words
If you are a Manchester United fan, Derby fan or an England fan then you will know who Wayne Rooney is.
This documentary let's us know what went on in his head as a footballer playing for clubs like Manchester United, Everton and Derby. Also the shocking abmission that he turned to drink to cope with the pressure of playing for a big club like Man Utd & also dealing with fame which he found hard to cope with.
Coming 2 America (2021)
A Nice Slice of 80's Nostalgia
I enjoyed it not quite as good as the original but pretty close. Lots of 80's music & references to several Eddie Murphy movies including the original..Coming to America
New Order: Touched by the Hand of God (1987)
A very underrated New Order Track with an amusing video
Great song the video moves away from New Orders style and they try something different like dressing up as a heavy metal band. It's a fun video & a step in a different direction away from their previous serious arty videos.
Zombi 2 (1979)
Zombie Flesh Eaters - UK Title
This film blew me away when I watched it in 1981 on video I had to buy it on video which at the time was difficult as videos were not being sold just rented. I managed to get a copy in either 81 or 82 when I was 13 or 14yrs old which was not bad considering the film was an X certificate (18).
This is my favourite Zombie film & prefure this film to Dawn of the Dead which is also a very good film even though Zombie Flesh Eaters is an unofficial prequel or sequel to DotD.
I think the storyline is very good the voodoo element adds to it & provides a different slant than your usual zombie films. Zombie Flesh Eaters is quite a gory film so if you are squeamish spear clear of this one.
The main story follows a reporter and a woman both searching for answers who hire a boat to take them to a remote island where they encounter a doctor who is in the middle of an undead epidemic. The fact that this film has the only Zombie vs Shark scene tells you not to take this film too seriously but it is a roller coaster of a film with jump scares & gory moments a plenty. The famous shower scene probably a homage to Psycho has to been seen possibly through the gaps in your fingers to be believed. Also the scene where they find the doctors wife who is being eaten alive is one of my favourites and was cut in some versions of this film but has now been fully restored.
I suggest you watch it & make your own mind up but if you like gory horror films especially the ones labelled a video nasty back in the 80's then chances are you will enjoy this one.
