Yellowstone: One Hundred Years Is Nothing (2022)
Picked up where it left off....
What on earth has happened to this show. It's become so bleak. All of the characters are incredibly unlikeable and the story is going nowhere. I hoped things would pick up after the disastrous season 4, but it seems to have picked up where it left off. The constant bullying of Jamie is just getting boring. Beth's character used to have some depth and intrigue, now she just seems to be full on dick. Really, really hoping that season 5 takes a turn for the better, but at the moment, I'm not not overly hopeful. The show desperately needs some new strong characters who can shake things up a bit. Fingers crossed.
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)
As close...
...to perfect as you'll get. I cannot fault this film in any way shape or form. The acting, directing, score, story and cinematography are all perfect. I've just rewatched it for at least the tenth time and I feel like I love it more every time I watch it.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Not even...
....the badest badass of them all, Darth Vader can save this series from being beyond average kids TV. I know they say comparison is the thief of joy, but I just can't help myself. The Mandalorian was so cool, funny, well written and directed with brilliant performances throughout. This series doesn't possess any of those qualities. I'm really hoping that Disney find their way again with Star Wars.
Ozark: A Hard Way to Go (2022)
A game of two halves
The first half of season four was great. The second half, not so much. Give me cartel, drugs and murder over politics, grandfathers and annoying kids every day of the week. It all just felt a bit rushed. I think killing off Javi so soon in part two was a mistake. As an overall show from start to finish, I recon 6/10.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa (2022)
One step forward, one step back...
What an awful episode. Those multicoloured shiny speeder bikes looked terrible and didn't seem to fit with the Star Wars landscape at all. And the less said about the chase scene the better.
I'm still not buying Boba Fett being that old either. Maybe its true to the comics (I'm not sure), but he looks a tad over weight as well. I'm not getting Ex Badass Bounty Hunter vibes at all.
Rodriguez just doesn't seem like the right fit for this at all.
The Unforgivable (2021)
Ignore the haters
This film possessed something that so many films of recent times are lacking....a decent story. Coupled with some pretty good performances, I would say that this was a nice little surprise.
The piano cover of Radiohead went so well with the final scene as well.
Wrath of Man (2021)
Honestly....
What has happened to Guy Ritchie? This film is just awful. The plot, script and acting are beyond terrible. It's pretty hard for an action film to not entertain at some point in the film, but this one managed it. I have to admit, alarm bells were ringing when I saw Josh Hartnett in the cast list.
Avoid at all costs.
Curb Your Enthusiasm: Irma Kostroski (2021)
Worst ep so far
Curb is my fave comedy show of all time and I have been loving this series, but this episode just wasn't funny. The story was ok, but it just didn't make me laugh.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Hmm
I'm kinda gutted. This started so well. The first hour was great. It felt original and funny. The acting and action was so great, but then I all goes downhill very fast. I guess you could say it goes from adults film to kids film in the blink of an eye.
Mare of Easttown: Sore Must Be the Storm (2021)
Best one so far
It really is coming into its own this show. Such good acting and storytelling. This episode had me on the edge of my seat.
Line of Duty: Episode #6.6 (2021)
Honestly....
The acting in LOD is next level AWFUL! Maybe it would be better if they had a decent script to work with, but the writing is just TERRIBLE! Fair play to the BBC hype machine for tricking people into thinking this show is good, but honestly, I think it's some of the worst original content to come out of the UK for ages. If they want to learn how to create twists and turns with interesting writing, they should watch shows like The Undoing or Breaking Bad.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Truth (2021)
Hmm
Struggling to understand all the love for this episode. I love deeper look into the characters and their relationships as much as the next man, but I think they over did it a tad in this ep. Way too much build up to a finale that now has to deliver. Excited to find out more about JLD's character.
Your Honor (2020)
Goes wrong
Agree with most of the comments on here about plot holes and some lazy writing, and the kid being incredibly annoying, but I have to say that I was gripped up until ep 7 but it all just felt far too rushed from there on in. There are some great characters in this show and most of the acting is decent, it's just a shame it lost its way at the end.
When Cranston asked his friend to get rid of a car and set someone up to steal the car 'no questions asked', why didn't his friend then know that either he or his son had been driving the car??
WandaVision (2021)
Eps 1-3 are borderline unwatchable.....
........ but I will persist as everyone seems to think it gets better from there. Like a new album, I wouldn't stop listening after three tracks.
Gangs of London: Episode 5 (2020)
Mind blowingly good!
Just enjoy it for what it is, the greatest violent action TV episode of all time. The direction and realism is second to none!!!
Industry (2020)
Ignore the harsh reviews
This felt fresh. The soundtrack is stunning. It has a nice balance of subtle humour and tension. Yes, everyone in it seems like a prick, but isn't that why we all love Succession? I'll definitely be watching more.
Hello Ladies (2013)
Why did this get cancelled?!?!?!?!?
It's sweet, charming and hilariously funny!
I cannot for the life of me think why this would get cancelled. I was literally crying laughing.
Beats (2019)
Stunning!
Encapsulates the feeling of what it felt like to go clubbing in the 90's like no other film ever has.
I cant remember ever leaving the cinema and having such a warm feeling of nostalgia ever!
The story is engaging, the characters are likeable and unlikable in the exact right amount.
This is a must see.
Oh, and please don't compare it Human Traffic. They are are both brilliant films in their own way. Beats feels more real. Human Traffic has more of a comic book feeling.
Prisoners (2013)
Classic!
Feels like A 90's thriller of now! Even after 2hrs and 20 min I was still on the edge of my seat! Brilliant story with stunning performances!
A must see!
