Poker Face (2023)
more like 6.5
This show has incredible acting, and some incredible well written dialogue. The main problem with the show is that every single episode has some huge plot holes and/or major leaps in judgement/logic that usually makes the whole story of the episode really hard to believe.
The characters & the mysteries are always great but most of the time charlie figures something out that breaks it all open through some huge plot hole, or by making some leap in logic (even though we as viewers know is true, theres often nothing that should make her as a character know is true)
overall i think this show is quite entertaining, especially if your someone who dosnt get bothered by story issues like these, but if you are that person, you might have some trouble enjoying this. Most of the time for me though, the dialogue and characters are good enough to get past most of these issues.
Tales of the Walking Dead (2022)
people arent watching these episodes for what they are
It seems to me that most of the reviewers (negative reviews mostly), are not watching these episodes and reviewing them for what they are, and instead are just comparing them all to the walking dead. Similar to how one shouldnt review something like american horror story by comparing and contrasting to other seasons.
Most of the episodes in this series are pretty okay. All of them besides "dee" are pretty original if not necessarily especially well done, they at least tried something new and the attempts usually do a pretty okay job.
You can see my point in how "dee" is the highest rated episode solely because its the most similar to the walking dead (especially because dee or alpha is in it) though as i wrote in my review of that episode, it felt completely unnecessary becuase alpha's past was well enough explored and there was really nothing new to make us care for (??) or understand alpha.
Every other episode though tried something new story wise, and artistically wich was very refreshing.
Overall this series was okay, and i enjoyed the attempts at trying something new in the same universe as TWD. I think this one season was enough, unless they plan to really step up the production in future seasons.
All in all, if you come in to this show expecting more of the walking dead you will probably wind up disappointed. But this show wasnt meant to be more of the walking dead. So if u you come in and watch each episode and only focus on that episode, most of the time you will probably be mildly entertained.
Tales of the Walking Dead: Dee (2022)
why does everyone love her so much
This episode seems wholly unnecessary. We already got to see dees backstory with beta and that was done well
but this episode doesnt make sense, the timeline doesnt make sense. And are we supposed to care about dee? How could you after seeing the way shes acted. And we already felt bad enough already for lydia. This episode doesnt really add anything to the story of twd overall. And to be honest dees accent is so infuriating everyone is gushing over dee / samantha morten but lets be honest the only good bart of this episode is lydias acting.
Alpha was a good villain if a bit annoying at times but all this dredging into her story is tired. And this one just seems pointless. I feel like some brand new characters with a brand new story would have made a lot more sense. Especially based on what since this series is supposed to be. I honestly thought both the first 2 episodes were far better.
For All Mankind: Bring It Down (2022)
okay episode but danny sucks so much
I really have no issues with any of these other side stories i see a lot of people complaining about all the time, and overall this episode wasnt that bad but honestly why is danny is still alive??
His character really just sucks all around. No redeemable qualities. And i have no doubt that even the show gives him some sort of redemption that there is nothing that would make me feel for him, or like him all of a sudden. No matter what he does now, everything hes done so far just sucks and makes you hate him just for the sake of having a terrible character.
And now danny being a little bitch probably just got like 4 people (all relatively likable characters) killed and we now have to deal with at least one more episode of danny sucking for no reason.
And with a show with less, and less, likable characters every season, its just annoying. I really want to skip everytime danny is on screen.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2020)
bad but im committed /:
Theres barely anything good about this show. Almost all the actors seem like they are trying, and even if they did try, the writing is so bad it would hardly matter. Hope sometimes does a good job, and dennis is probably the only one most consistently alright but hes only in season 2. Iris as a character is horrible, the actress for iris is by far the worst in the show.
The overall plot seems just barely okay & fitting in with the lore that the 3 shows are creating at this point. But theres far to many times where the kids uncover some major plot with no evidence that would support it, but everyone just believes it & goes along with it. Theres also far to many times where they succeed in something where all logic would say they would fail. Things just happen far to easily for them.
As far as the visuals & cinematography go this show does a pretty good job. Sets & camera work generally look good.
Literally the only reason i watched past episode one is because i need to know what is going on with the CRM & the Civic Republic and how it all ties into the other two shows & future movies and spinoffs.
Was very excited for jadis to show up but they have nkt done her charachter justice & the writing is just so bad that polyanna macintosh cant do anything with it.
She had always been good on twd and i hoped she good make this show watchable towards the end but i dont think theres anything she could have done with this script.
I would 1000% tell anyone thinking about this show to please DONT watch it. Its not worth it.
Love, Death & Robots: The Drowned Giant (2021)
weird
Maybe i just didnt get it, but this episode was just weird.
It seemed an attempt at something philosophical but, for me at least, didnt work.
I think the biggest issue with this episode is that in this world, the people reaction to this event made absolutely no sense. If something like this ACTUALLY happened there would no doubt be endless research into it, normal people would not be aloud to be climbing all over it, (and if they were i find it hard to imagine that people would really want too).
And it makes no sense that it would just be "forgotten" within a couple months and the narrator says.
An event like this would stay in people minds for a LONG time.
And that there is no climax or explination to the story made it feel almost pointless.
Love, Death & Robots: Life Hutch (2021)
okay
It was a bit too predictable, and the "story" part of this episode seemed to be just tacked on for the sake of time and did not feel natural or original.
The animation looked great and the space dogfights looked cool but felt pointless. Maybe if more time had been spent on the "before" and the malfunctioned robot was less important it may have been better.
Love, Death & Robots: All Through the House (2021)
gross & terrifying, in a good way
A very interesting take indeed. I will never look at christmas the same way again.
Love, Death & Robots: The Tall Grass (2021)
stylish art
I loove the art style in this episode but the animation felt a little clunky. The mystery and suspense was very well done. The monster design was really cool and reminded me of the wendigo.
Love, Death & Robots: Snow in the Desert (2021)
best one so far
The animation in this episode is fantastic!
The characters are interesting, and then world is incredibly intriguing
i would very much love to see more of this world, along with the episode pop squad
exciting & intense
snow is a very good character i thought.
Love, Death & Robots: Pop Squad (2021)
cyberpunk noir!
Strong altered carbon(season 1 when it was good) vibes. I loved the episode every single bit of it
the animation & art style was really nice, a very compelling story & main character (nolan north is incredible always) the silent scenes told a lot, this was a very heavy & emotional episode. Loved it.
Love, Death & Robots: Ice (2021)
beautiful art/bland story
The art & animation in this episode was incredible, but the story was a little bit bland, & most of the voice acting was not yhat great.
Love, Death & Robots: Automated Customer Service (2021)
eh
Not a huge fan of the art style for the peoplw in this one, the plot was kinda interesting but not not nearly as funny as they were trying to do
overall just eh not that good.
Debris (2021)
eh
Feels kinda like fringe and/or x-files just with sub-par writing & acting. so far not especially interesting. maybe after some more episodes it will be more worth it
Adventure Time: BMO Noire (2012)
One of the best episodes of TV of all time
BMO Noir is, without a doubt, one of the best episodes of TV ever. Rivaling the likes of Ozymandias (Breaking Bad, 2013), Rains of Castamere (Game of Thrones, 2013) The Constant (Lost, 2008), Middle Ground (The Wire, 2004) and Pine Barrens (The Sopranos, 2001).
The supporting characters tie the episode together evoking feeling of love, hate, anger, and regret. Lorraine especially is one of the most complex supporting characters in recent memory. There are twists abound in BMO Noir, each more shocking than the last. As soon you think you know who committed the most heinous crime, new details come to light and shake you to the core. But the real star of BMO Noir is none other than BMO Himself. Once again, an incredibly deep & complex character stopping at nothing, and willing to bend the rules where he needs to, to do what is right and uncover the truth.
BMO Noir in a Mastercraft of the medium, setting the bar high for television and movies alike.
Tiger King (2020)
Way to slow, way to long
The drawbacks to this doc are that it was way to drawn out, taking forever to get to the next point, lots of filler. There is no one to support in the whole series, all the people involved are scummy.
and all of the 'facts' for the first few episodes at least, are presented from feuding individuals. It would have been nice to see some information put forth but someone NOT involved in any of the drama
The End of the F***ing World: Episode #1.1 (2017)
so far i dont get it
Why do i care about these 2? they dont seem interesting at all based on this episode. i also dont understand how this comedy? even dark comedy. i didnt see anything in this episode that even seemed like it was trying to be funny, let alone interesting tbh. this episode just dosnt make sense. and i dont mean the storyline made no sense, i mean that i just dont understand why i should care about anything thats gunna happen? why should i like either of these characters? am i not supposed to like them? there was just nothing there to make me feel anything at all about them.
Fear the Walking Dead: Channel 4 (2019)
Interesting but not exciting
I almost never review episodes but the ammount of hate this show is getting is ridiculous. I think people just wanna b*tch about something.
This episode was really cool & very interesting. It used a really good twist on the formula, one that i enjoyed, by showing us most the episode thru Althea's tapes. (and the rest of the crew now)
I always thought Althea was one of the better charcters and i would think that what shes been trying to do would be a good idea and something that should be done if this was real life, so the fact that the show progressed her agenda furter i think is great.
The only problem with this episode i think, is that it was NOT an exciting episode. There was only one bit of action/intensity in the episode but it was dulled because it was shown in a flashback/recording so we know how it turns out.
Overall i just wish people would lower their rediculously high bar of what THEY think this show should be, instead of what the show has always been
