Hunt for the Labyrinth Killer (2013)
Fun Thriller
Saw this movie the other night with my wife. An underrated thriller for a TV movie. Strong acting and script. Lots of twists and turns that keep you guessing. Surprising scope in this one. Film was also shot and edited quite nicely.
Amanda Schull and Michael Nouri we're stand outs. Ann Ramsey was really good too. The court room scenes were also well put together.
**SPOILER - The best scene of the movie has to be Gina Gershon getting impaled with the California State Flag in the first 5 minutes. Classic!
I was surprised I was glued to my seat till the twist at the end. Good movie to watch on a Saturday night. Highly recommend.
Frankie 13 vs. the World (2008)
Nerd tries out of the international Rock-Paper-Scissors Championships
Saw this little film online. Decent little documentary. It was shot and edited really well. I only wish it was longer. The movie clocks in at around 23 minutes and you feel the filmmakers probably needed at least another 15 minutes or so to get into Frankie 13's life a little more. I wanted to see more of the Rock, Paper, Scissors world as well. The film really didn't dive into that too much.
The music in the film is really good and helps the pacing nicely. Lots of soul-funk-jammy type tunes. I hope they release a soundtrack to it.
Spoiler - -- My only major complaint about the movie is the ending. It didn't end that well for Frankie 13. I was hoping he'd at least place at the championships. But that's how documentaries sometimes go, you don't always get the story book ending.
Murder on the 13th Floor (2012)
Fun movie with lots of dark humor
Saw this movie for the first time a few months back. It was actually pretty fun. Lately, I've been watching a lot of Lifetime movies with my wife and found this to be sort of a "guy" film. Lots of dark humor in this one, especially from the two bad guys who show up later in the film. Although my wife didn't think they were that funny, I thought they were a hoot. Compared to other Lifetime type movies this one really has a higher production value. The computer visuals were pretty good.
The acting for the most part was good, except for Jordan Ladd. Wasn't sure what was wrong with her, but her performance seemed a little off. SPOILER ---- When Jordan Ladd needed to play the "the bad guy" she was okay, but when she attempted the "sweeter" moments-- she was just off.
All in all a pretty good little film. Much better then the typical Lifetime movie.
