Where's the Party Yaar? (2003)
something to watch baked
where ever I go, I get a movie pass at the local video store and just start renting countless videos. Dude wheres the party was one of those movies that was released with no advertising and even the rental i got a hold of had no box, just a DVD with the name of the movie and I don't even think it had a photo or anything it was just a white label with the name. so I watched it, and it focuses on the FOB.. F.O.B Fresh off the boat aspect of the Indian crew.. basically you have a bunch of Indians who are totally assimilated into American culture like our hero Kal Penn (no accent) and they basically have a tight party (according to them I suppose) but the FOB's show up and they don't want to let them crash the party. and some girl gets mad at Kal for being insensitive and so he has to make it right. I was a little surprised that Kal's character didn't notice right away that the fobs were trying to get in on the action but he seems really out of it until the girl gets mad. Its a bit lame, most people can pick up on a group of people looking for action.
I'm sure there is more to the movie than that but it boiled down to this. if you're going to have a huge party for your Indian friends, you better make sure that you give individual invitations out because that kind of event will be crashed every time by FOBS. Personally I don't have a problem with FOBS of any type, they're more fun than some of these dead beat Americans I know, and if they're crashing a raging party they're probably open minded at the very least. Let em in FOOL, they're here to party! LONG LIVE HAROLD & KUMAR! DJ LIQUIDSMOKE

Great Movie
This movie is very well done, I saw it when I was in high school, HBO used to play it pretty frequently. There aren't any really crucial plot points that I can mention that will ruin the movie for someone who hasn't seen it, I basically love it, because its really funny. They try to make it funny, and its so easy to watch. I wouldn't say its the type of movie that makes you care about the main character so much, but its an underdog story. If you have ever said "Gee this chuck Norris movie is a bit drawn out!" then you should see this, one example is Missing In Action, its a bit slow for an action movie. In this movie Chuck acts like he always does, he smiles a bit more in this one and you know, chuck appears in a fantasy situation like every 10 minutes. Most of these fantasies are hilarious. Any boy/girl, who used to run around the house pretending to be an action hero for fun should find this quite humorous. And the fantasy scene's catch phrases are minimal and mostly clichés- they stick to what most people who watched action movies made in the 80's would remember about chuck Norris type movie situations. And of course its less original than some people want, but we're talking about a boy's fantasies, those usually come from TV,movies, books and x mags. so, you can understand the drive of the movie. I really felt like this main character could be me, I took martial arts training for years but didn't compete much, I was picked on in school almost like the main character (it turned out to be nothing looking back 10 years later). The humor is priceless, my only problem with the movie is, I can't seem to find it on DVD. CHUCK, is the man- he delivers a few lines in the movie, again, emphasis is on that Jonathan Brandis kid (god bless him may he rest in peace) and he did a great job acting like a goofy kid with asthma and no direction in life. If you like this movie at all, then you should also see the movie hackers-1995 and Dragon the Bruce lee story-1995. but none of the actors in this movie are in hackers or dragon, i'm just relating fun movies for young people or people who grew up during the 90's but missed various films. Chuck Norris was also in Dodgeball-2004 making a cameo appearance as our optimistic pal "Thank You Chuck Norris". I don't recommend this movie for people who didn't grow up in the U.S. or Canada (I grew up in Canada & U.S.)its got random comedy, and if you're not up on your historical 80's/90's action/comedy you might not care to understand the satire in this movie.
