Samurai Chanpurû (2004)
The Show That Made Me Stop Watching Anime
Nothing can come remotely close to how good this series is.
The atmosphere and good vibes it exudes is just an unfathomable bliss that will never be topped.
The soundtrack is beyond good, it's divine.
The aesthetics and animation are sublime and the way that hip hop blends with Edo period Japan into a seamless cocktail of brilliance the likes of which will never be seen again.
Nujabes, Fat Jon and the others who contributed to the soundtrack are absolute masters.
The series is light on plot until the end where it goes very deep and philosophical, which can only been seen in the likes of Space Dandy and Cowboy Bebop.
This anime ruined me and I can never watch another anime again in the same light. Nothing else compares to this exquisite masterpiece.
My only regret is that it ends.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)
Went in with low expectations
So I had just gone to see the Mario film a day or two before watching this, I thought that film was going to cater for adults and children a-like, however I was gravely disappointed.
Going into this film I expected it to be equally as bad, just another modern film that would be a complete and utter waste of my time.
What I found was completely unexpected and such a joy to discover. Hugh Grant's performance was enchanting, making the perfect fool.
The plot took time to develop some back stories and have characters develop throughout the film.
Don't get me wrong, it is certainly nothing groundbreaking, but given how low my expectations were, it was very enchanting and refreshing to discover I had a great time throughout.
Go in with low expectations and enjoy a fun ride!
Star Trek: Discovery: The Examples (2021)
The only reason this got a 2 is because the previous episode was worse
This show is utterly sh.. shockingly bad.
There aren't scores low enough to scale this correctly, but my feeling towards this show are of utter disgust.
The entire show is not Star Trek. It feels like some teen drama by Nickelodeon or some other rubbish.
I really hated season 1 and 2, then after about two years I finally tried season 3 which somehow improved things. After the last episode and this one, I feel physically sick.
It's incredible that Michael Burnham comes across as one of the more interesting characters in the episode but it vastly outshined by throwaway character.
Who wrote this? Because imo they should not be allowed anywhere near Star Trek.
Please do yourself a favour and skip the episode.
Star Trek: Discovery: All Is Possible (2021)
The hell is this garbo
This episode is so bad it has made me make a review which I rarely do. This is more of a personal note and reminder to myself how bad this episode is and to forever avoid watching it.
Tilly and Adira are the worst characters and this episode focuses on them. The better outcome would for them to have just died and never come back to the show.
Season 3 did a lot right to bring me from absolutely detesting the show, to actually enjoying it again. This episode makes me regret giving this show another chance.
I cannot express how boring and annoying the characters in this episode are. Michael Burnham is back to solving issues when nobody else can. The only redemption was that Book featured in the episode, but even his scenes were ruined by the doctor and his terrible character and performance.
