I onde dager (2021)
Very entertaining splatter movie
The production quality was very high for this Wirkola movie compared to previous Norwegian movies, but that was merely the icing on the cake. The actors' performances, especially Atle Antonsen, were top notch, and made every character believable.
Well-paced and well-made through and through. Would not recommend it to people who can't let go and just enjoy a movie for what it is, but for everyone else, it's definitely worth checking out.
Boom Bust Boom (2015)
Could have been a lot better
This was a pretty good retelling of the financial crisis and told it in an interesting way, which is sure to please regular folks who aren't all that into these matters.
The illustrations were good, overall very nice production value.
Bubbles are mentioned - by a dedicated song even (!). However, it is glaringly obvious that no views on the current bubble(s) we're in were allowed to be included in the final cut of the film.
It would have been a lot better if they had gone into more detail on how the current state of the economy is far worse than the last financial crisis and what people can do to protect themselves.
Kung Fury (2015)
Excellent, over the top 80s weirdness overload
This was a very entertaining movie, and very strange in many ways. I loved the music track by Mitch Murder, which suits the movie perfectly and really sets a nice 80s mood. The subtle and also the not-so-very subtle visual effects are impressive for this type of movie, and there are a lot of goofs crammed into the short 30 minutes this piece of pure art lasts. If you could bottle the dreams of 80s kids up and let it sit there and ooze for a few years, it clearly doesn't lose color, it gains a lot of color - and this shows in Kung Fury. The creators managed to bring in elements from an impressive array of 80s and early 90s movies culture, slapped it on there and ran with it, just like you did with those worn out velcro-laced tennis shoes twenty something years ago.
