The Spectacular Spider-Man (2008)
The best Spider-Man TV show of all time.
OK, so let me just say that this show is perhaps one of the best animated TV shows to ever air. It is an absolute shame that this show got cancelled so quickly. It was great while it lasted. Whether it was the terrific voice casting, the unique animation style, the intriguing story arc, or the intense battles that Spider-Man is caught between with his various enemies.
I've been a fan of Spidey since I was a little boy and I am proud to say that they nailed this representation of Spider-Man. Do yourself a favor, buy the complete, 26 episode collection on Blu-Ray and enjoy. You won't be disappointed.
Green Lantern (2011)
Don't watch this movie.
Being a DC fan since I was a child it pains me to see such a beloved character be portrayed in such a bad way. The acting is god-awful and the stupid cheesy lines serve absolutely no benefit to the film. I'll admit, Blake Lively played a good Carol Ferris but Ryan Reynolds played a terrible Hal Jordan that throughout most of the movie is beyond dramatic and everything is so..."cartoonish". "Parallax" was a stupid choice of a villain and the Lantern's along with the Guardians looked like shriveled up, unappealing aliens. This whole movie was really aimed at little kids. Your kids will love it, you'll probably snooze through it. Do yourself a favor and don't watch this movie.
Man of Steel (2013)
Man of Steel Is Amazing!
After watching Man of Steel I was already so eager for a sequel. First off, the movie focuses more on Superman's Kryptonian heritage and his relationship with Jor-El. You also get to see Superman's human life and how he struggles to fit in with the rest of the world. Its really cool to see how isolated and secretive he is as a child. Throughout the movie you see that Clark must come out of isolation and face other Kryptonians. Michael Shannon does a great job as General Zod and he portrays him just like in the comics (which is a good thing). Also you see Amy Adams as Lois Lane and in this movie is very "agressive". She'll get right to the point and is very adventurous. A different but likable Lois Lane from the comics. The CGI was great and the battles are just like you would expect them between Superman and Zod. Overall, the film was amazing and I cant wait to see what they do in expanding the story (World's Finest, hint, hint.)
Beware the Batman (2013)
"Beware the Batman" Review
"Beware the Batman" was a show announced at the 2012 SDCC. Many of the fans were skeptical of how this show would turn out considering the show does not include Robin to aid Batman, instead being replaced with another DC character but lesser-known than they boy wonder, Katana. On July 13, 2013 when the show first aired I could imagine the fans high disappointment. As much as I don't agree with their point of views I could see how it wasn't to their liking with lesser-known and "cartoonish" villains. And I have to admit, it was. I stuck around to see the next episode to see if it got any better and boy it did. The second episode included Magpie, a creepy villain whose has a dark, troubled past, similar to Batman. I'm not going to spoil much but Batman is much more gritty, tougher and dark. You get to see how he deals with these types of villains. The animation was also greatly enjoyed and Anthony Ruivivar fits Batman/Bruce Wayne's voice so well and Kurtwood Smith plays an excellent Lieutenant Gordon. I cant wait to see the next episode, and I highly recommend it for any Batman lover.
