Mustafa Hakkinda Hersey (2004)

It is a good movie after all. It is about Mustafa, a selfish man, a man who likes to be loved, who loves enough just to be loved back. That man eats only good food, wears only good cloths, listens only good music...and one day, he learns that his wife cheated on him with an ordinary taxi driver. The director wants to tell about Mustafa...and he is very successful, and the way he tells about him is original and easy for the audience to get. To be cheated on is very traumatic,you think why? what's wrong with me? ... The lover, Fikret, the taxi driver explains it very good, I liked that part: '' There is nothing wrong with you. Two people meet and like each other and become together.''

Incredibly very bad movie

A political prisoner comes to a jail in Gokceada, a Turkish island in Aegean Sea which is tried to be showed as a beautiful place but it does not seems so.Here he is going to finish his prison stay and finally he will be able to be with his daughter who he has not seen for 8 years, since the poor child was born.Here he meets with Sumru. Sumru is the wife of the prison director,Halim, she is also a big admirer of the books written by the prisoner. They make love after rain, so the title. The movie has no point. I really try to find something positive...but I cannot say there is one. The acting is very poor,the dialogs are the worst ones I've ever heard. The only scene worth mentioning is that where Halim kicks his wife's cat, I felt sorry for the cat, this is the only feeling that I had during entire thing. Watching this was waste of time.I feel angry and humiliated with that kind of work and I must say at the end everybody dies!

Alone (2008)

a good movie overall

Issız ada is very a normal 'term' in Turkish meaning desert island. Issiz ada(m) is probably a word game, adam meaning man..and the name of the girl is Ada...Like a 'poem!' indeed.

The movie tells a short love story in big city...Watching, you can feel that they love each other, you can understand why and how but why that finishes, it is not clear enough.

the acting is not very very good,in my opinion. The directing is very good. ll of he movies of Çagan Irmak has something to think about and he has a style. Without knowing that the film is his, you can guess so.

The most successful part of the movie is its music.

The movie is good and worth watching.

The House of Yes (1997)

very very good,funny and dramatic but not scary.

The movie roughly looks like classic comedies that make their jokes by exaggerating the scenes of classical horror movies:hurricane,a big house,insane women in it,electricity goes off-the candles come... And/or the movie is joking about the classical psychological dramas:abondened mother,incest,murders?...But it is in not either or maybe it is both plus.The House of Yes is a good funny psychological drama.The characters are well outlined and nicely played.Marthy is the man wanted by everybody,because he is handsome, gentle, clever, talented, good in bed,everything that a woman is looking for.JackieO is the twin sister of Marthy,she is as intelligent as him,as talented as him,as strong as him.They are having very good and very special time together,but Jackie is selfish and want everything to be as she wants it to be,she is crazy,she is difficult to be with.Lesly is beautiful,clean girl,blond.She is clever enough and very good person.Marthy is about to marry with Lesly and before that very event,they come to Marthy home for Lesly to meet his family...

Epidemic (1987)

A m'piece after a handful of candies..

Lars vTrier is a genius,no doubt.Everything he did,especially The Kingdom is extraordinary and very very good,shocking..but there is something that makes me feel humiliated.In Epidemic this feeling comes to its peak.It is like 'you stupid audience,watch whatever I do with your open mouth where I can put everything I want,it can be a candy or ..it'.The first I saw from him was 'Breaking the Waves' that impressed me so much that I begun waiting for the next work of the director.That was 'Dancer in the Dark'and I became a child who ate a chocolate bonbon(Danser in the Dark) after a caramelized bonbon(Breaking the Waves).In the meanwhile I found the opportunity to see Riget on the TV,this was a box filled with chocolate candies filled with caramel.Even though,all those candies were taken with no finishing,I was still a child with wide open mouth.And then 'dogville'came.Another big different candy.

After finishing 'Epidemic',I felt as if I've just eaten a big piece of ..it.Very much experimental,very much B&W,very much LvT,...But I am still with my wide open mouth,waiting to eat 'Mandelay'.it is worth risking!

Mila from Mars (2004)

a tekno film from Bulgaria

This is the story of Christ ,the alternative. The movie begins at forth month of the very pregnancy.We see the mother and the father in a car.They are quarreling.We see that the girl(mother)is upset and wants to get free.Somehow(it is shown how),she goes to a village where only 5-10 old men and women live.There is a lunatic away,too but nobody sees him and he disturbs nobody.All those old people welcome the girl,they name her Miche(in Bulgarian.momiche means girl,so the name miche,they find her house,they give her food,they even give her a radio.Time passes and at new year's Eve,Miche gives birth to a boy they name Christ.The time now is indicated as 'weeks-months after Christ.Miche goes to the lunatic and falls in love with him.we learn that the father has save his life...And happy end..The father lets Mila and the lunatic to live together free and happy! Miche-mila-mother...looks very different,very orphan,very angry,very dirty and very TEKNO.The music used is tekno and the pictures are parallel to the music and everything fits perfectly with the character of Mila. The film is not a masterpiece but it is different kind of work,certainly worth seeing.

L.A. Confidential (1997)

My number one ever

Nothing is more nothing is less in this movie.The sex could have been abused,so does violence,there are so much places to do this.In that way easily they could go to the art movie,but there is no even such an attempt. Music,acting,the atmosphere,everything is just perfect! Each small detail is in its right place.At each watching I see a new one and its beauty in the whole film. The best scene is the finishing where we see the old fashioned cars going in the wide streets.After no stop action such a finish,so perfect illustration of that time makes you feel real good.The second best scene is the dying moment of Keven Spacy.His smile and intelligently said Roll Thomassy!The third one is the interrogation scene of Exley.

The Return (2003)

Beautiful film about Ivan and Andrey

The characters of two brothers are perfectly described in the movie:the young brother Vanya and the older one Andrey.Andrey is relatively normal in his relations with the other boys,with the family members...He is very good child.He is also very good to his brother.Vanya is more difficult,he is clever,besides very different from others.The return of the father(is he really their father?)and their journey to that island,the box they take etc...everything is just the way the director found to show us these characters.While watching,you like one of them more and this seems as if he should be Ivan.The father likes Vanya more,too.In the end you see the power of Andrey and actually you relax.You relax because you have seen that Andrey is good. Every single shot is beautiful in the film and that is in fact enough to like the movie very much.

Lovelorn (2005)

good movie for Turkish people only,universal cinema language missing

Gonul Yarasi is good if you want to cry,if you want to feel sorry about the life you live.To be in this mood is typical for Turkish.We are the people who sometimes we think ourselves as the greatest nation in the world or more commonly the worst one.So the movie is for Turkish people's entertainment only.As a movie,it contains nothing specific,nothing real good. I think that if somebody cannot understand many things,very Turkish specific things,he cannot like the movie.For example,why Dünya never says Nazim she likes/loves him.For example,all this leftist things,the name Nazim,Piraye... As in previous Eskiya,for me the most exiting thing was to see the places I normally live at the screen.This actually shows that the film is no good.

Karpuz Kabugundan Gemiler Yapmak (2004)

The actual nice things in the movie are small details like the secret eating of the walnut by the elder sister,like the scene of epilepsy attack of Deli Omer...- In the beginning of the movie,there was a scene o a cat moving around a man crying which is shot totally incidentally,is making you feel good ,happy but not...and immediately after the dead man comes alive and you feel peculiar... During all the time,during all that childish love stories you actually expect the explanation of that coming back to life scene and it is explained actually in the end when Recep promises Deli Omer to bring alive his dead wife.
