Date Movie (2006)
Was strong, but lacked
When I first heard about this movie I was looking forward to it. I had enjoyed the Scary Movie series, and I liked the idea of a spoof on the romantic comedies out there. Also, I happen to like Alison Hannigan, so I was quite happy when I heard about it. I was excited, until I had a chance to go see it in theaters. It started strong, but it lost me about halfway through the movie. Although it did spoof many of the romantic comedies out there, I was kind of upset that it did not go after some movies that were screaming to be spoofed. I would have loved to have seen a spoof of Duece Bigalow. I think that would have been excellent. Something else, I did like the Napolean Dynamite character. I would have also like to have seen a spoof of Maid in Manhatten somewhere in there. The male lead was poorly cast though, I did not like the gentlemen playing her fiancé. All in all, If you have a few dollars to waste, then buy the movie when it hits the 2/11.00 bin at Walmart
Mother, May I Sleep with Danger? (1996)
a good attempt, but bad casting
I first caught this movie when it was aired on lifetime..I liked the idea, even though it is overplayed..Good girl, meets sexy new boy, who turns out to be a psycho with various identities..I did like the actor who played David..He had the look for it..But Tori Spelling? GIVE ME A BREAK! The only reason ANYONE in Hollywood ever wanted her around was not because she was a good actress, but because of who her daddy was..She cannot act, and I have yet to watch a movie with her in it that was actually any good..She always manages to play the damsel in distress, the victim, who gets away with murder..Whoever wrote it, started with good intentions, but the movie was destined to be a flop as soon as Tori Spelling was cast..If they had cast someone else, then maybe, just maybe this movie would have had a chance..Another reason I did not like the movie was the detective..Can't she lose her job by just handing out information on a case, even if it is closed? I mean come on! Cops go to jail for less..
Mom at Sixteen (2005)
Pass the Tissues
When I first heard about this movie, I wasn't sure what I would think about it, but since I watch lifetime movies like they are a religion, I decided to. All I can say is that it was well worth it..I loved the cast and I loved the story line..I am a fan of Jane Krakowski, and I think that this was one of her better roles..I liked her character, a emotional, yet determined woman to become a mother..I can't imagine a better woman for the part..But of course, what made this movie, was Danielle Panabaker..She played an extraordinary part, and I think she played it wonderfully..She played a confused, scared single mother..It actually seemed like this was coming from a real 16 year old single mom..Most stories seem like they were written by a 35 year old male..This one was so well written, that you would think it came straight from a 16 year old girl's mind..It was definitely a great movie, that I would watch again in a heartbeat
The Notebook (2004)
Pass the tissues
When I first heard of this film, I thought of about 100 reasons not to watch..I didn't like how it was cast, with 2 almost virtually unknowns..I am not one to watch romantic films..I hadn't read the book..But once I took the time to sit down and watch it, I was amazed..I spent the last half hour crying..I think that I went through half a box of tissues..Not only did I like Ryan and Racheal in this movie, I thought that their chemistry was amazing..They seemed to click..Having 2 stars that are still fairly unknown and just beginning to make their mark in Hollywood was an amazing idea..It worked..I don't think that they could have picked a better couple..James Marsden..I loved him in this..I thought that it was a welcome change..Don't get me wrong, I loved him in the XMen movies, but I like him better in roles like Lon..He was willing to have his heart broken just so that the woman that he loved would be happy..Ryan Gosling..Loved him since he was on Young Herceules..I think that he was incredible in this film..His voice, his look..He seemed to fit the role of Noah Calhoun, as if the role was written for him...
A Walk to Remember (2002)
An Amazing story
Oh, where to begin..When I first heard of this film, I will admit I was skeptic. But, after I read the Nicholas Spark's book, I decided to rent it..I watched it once and then I bought it..It is an incredible movie, and so emotional..Mandy Moore as Jamie Sullivan was brilliant..Mandy has that innocence look to her, and being as she is still young, I think that she was perfect as Jaime..She brought something to the role that is extremely hard to do..She was so amazing that I felt her pain and I cried with her..I felt the heartache as she told Landon of the Cancer..And then, Shane West as Landon Carter..AMAZING!! He had the look, the attitude and the voice to become bad boy Landon..He was also an emotional person and I loved that he was visibly emotional..The things that he did for her and the things that he said to her, I could feel his passion coming off the screen..There is so much more that I can say, but they give me a limit..ALl I can say is BUY THIS MOVIE!!
Darkness (2002)
Loopholes and Missing scenes..Not worth it
When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I was looking forward to it, for 2 reasons. Number one I am an Anna Paquin fan and number 2 I love horror movies. Unfortunately, this movie failed to live up to expectations. It had a few key scenes that I thought were good, such as when she realized that the man behind it was her grandfather, and the children standing around in the darkness. Other than that the movie managed to fall flat. Not that it wasn't a valiant effort, it just seems that they tried to hard when it came down to it. I thought that the movie's big scenes, the ones that were meant to get your blood boiling, only managed a simmer. I think that the parents were poorly cast, and that they didn't give enough of an effort. I did love Anna in this film, and the little boy as well. I thought they both gave strong performances. Orignally this movie had an R rating. They cut scenes to make it PG 13, which I think is ridiculous. They needed to keep it at R, because everyone knows that a good horror movie has an R rating. When they cut scenes, they cut key scenes. There were too many loopholes in the film that left us confused and longing for more. The lack of swearing was quite funny, although I don't like it when I go to a horror flick and I laugh. It contradicts the movie. It's a horror flick, NOT a comedy.. In conclusion, I say rent it when it comes out on DVD in hopes that they add the deleted scenes
