Cujo (1983)
This is not for everyone, and I'm leaving it at that.
Well, I mean "leaving it at that" AFTER I put in my two-cents' worth. I thought that this movie was nothing but a pointless waste of time (and fake blood). Sure, there were upsetting/suspenseful scenes, but I felt sorry for the REAL victims:the DOG, who had to be the "bad guy" (Not fun if you're a huge animal-lover), and the AUDIENCE (unless you're a fan of excesses of blood and gore, and yes-I know plenty of those types). I watched the entire movie, basically hoping that someone would somehow manage to save the humans AND this poor animal! I love dogs, and it was upsetting to me to see this magnificent creature suffering. Yes, the people were suffering, also, but it dragged on for WAY too long. It just somehow seemed stupid to me in many, many respects.I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Not even for two cents.
The Magnet (1950)
Old film, but memorable to a young child
This film was made the year that I was born. I remember watching it when I was very young; probably around age 6. I mostly remember it because it scared me. There is a young boy in the film who is injured (or sick) and ends up in an "iron lung" machine because he needs help breathing. I'd never seen such a machine, and it was disturbing to me. It was in the early 1950's, and there was a polio epidemic happening in real life.(People with polio often needed these machines to breathe.) I don't remember much else about the film, so this isn't a very good, or useful, "review". I'd simply remembered that it existed, and was amazed to find something about it on this site.
