The Gilded Age (2022)
Good grief!!
This whole show is ridiculous and delivered like a precise table read on a rushing like a stopwatch! Overacted- and badly. Every actor is misdirected to punch every line. Carrie Coon and Morgan Specter are in way over their heads. I tried but I cannot stomach this tripe further! Bu-bye.
Lansky (2021)
Weak
A great story poorly told. Forced canned performers. Harvey Keitel could not save this film. Poorly written and executed. Very disappointing.
Sam Worthington also very limp act.
Val (2021)
An honest and often moving self exploration of life and legacy
I decided back in the 80s or 90s I didn't care much for Val Kilmer. I DID though feel he was ripped off for being snubbed an Oscar Nomination for us role of Doc Holliday in Tombstone (1993), but only saw very few of his films.
This new autobiographical documentary "Val" was however an honest and moving self examination of his life. Throat Cancer stole his voice but not his artistry in telling his story.
Perhaps part of the appeal here is he is of my generation. Highly recommend a look.
Avenue 5 (2020)
I'm preparing to bail
Not very good.. Tiresome. Talent is wasted on this effort. All characters are spouting off one zinger after another but the zingers are not funny
Screwball (2018)
Hilarious saga of keystone coppery by MLB players and sketchy associates
Knowing anything about MLB is not important.
So cleverly done with preadolescent kids re-enacting the word for word transcripts of idiot adults.
I promise you'll fall in love with this film!
Midway (2019)
1976 was better
No more accurate than 1976 version.
Looks like a CGI FESTIVAL! Over the top violations of the laws of physics and aerodynamics.
Weak writing, but noble effort by cast given crappy script.
The Bookshop (2017)
Nice effort.
It doesn't really work. Bill Nighy, Emily Mortimer did their best, but Screenplay and Directing were weak.
Story arc never went anywhere. Arson?!
Last Flag Flying (2017)
Healing Balm for the Soul
Great ensemble cast of Fishburne, Cranston and Carell.
