Secret Invasion: Home (2023)
A poor end to a poor season
Unfortunately Secret Invasion's final episode was yet another letdown. Poor CGI, weak writing and a lack of any surprises or twists meant that this episode falls flat. Fury gives in to Gravik, who then powers himself with all the powers of the avengers (That alone doesn't make sense), only for Fury to be Ghia in disguise. Why would Gravik be surprised by this? Now Ghia is the most powerful being in the universe, only to wander off at the end of the episode with no real plan for the future of the skrulls. Fake Rhodey gets killed in a standoff without stakes or tension and the president decides to hunt down all of the skrulls which is strange considering how resistant he was to the idea of any war previously. There was so much potential for this show and it feels so wasted, such a shame!
Also there's no post credits, which at this point just feels like Marvel are being lazy. This would have been the perfect show to have a post credits, either with Captain Marvel or the new Captain America setting up brave new world. Another disappointment.
4/10.
You: Into the Woods (2021)
Really disappointing third season so far
Considering all the hype for the third season, I've been sorely disappointed so far. Initially I was enjoying seeing how the cover up would play out but now it's become a complete let down, topped off with Love cheating on Joe with an obsessed teenager. I've got a couple of problems with that, first off is that she killed Natalie just because she kissed Joe, so it seems ridiculous that she would then cheat on Joe himself. Secondly, she knows that Joe is a killer (and a pretty good and thorough one at that) so surely she would know that if Joe finds out he's likely to kill Theo? Overall really poor writing in this season, hopefully it'll pick up towards the end.
Sex Education: Episode 5 (2021)
It finally happened!
Great episode, and the moment we all wanted finally happened!
What If...?: What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord? (2021)
Fantastic send off for Chadwick Boseman, although it has faults
Really enjoyed this episode and it had some fun twists and turns. I did have a few issues with it though, namely Thanos changing his mind about the snap, T'challa still being called Star Lord and how the episode shows he actually did more good as Star Lord than Black Panther. Solid episode and lots of fun but certain points just pulled me out of it.
Snowpiercer: Into the White (2021)
Good ending but missing a key character
A shame we didn't actually get to see what happened to Melanie, makes me think that they'll likely bring her back for the next season on board yet another train!
Cursed: Alone (2020)
Almost unwatchable
I've been struggling to watch any more than 5 minutes of this show before getting so incredibly bored and this episode was even worse. It's taken me 3 weeks to get through this episode, it's that boring. Such a shame as the show is filmed on location and the sets are great, but everything else is just awful.
Kimi no na wa. (2016)
Beautiful heartwarming story
Absolutely stunning, the artwork was amazing and the music really added to the story which in itself was fantastic. I was on the edge on my seat towards the end just waiting to see what would happen
Lucifer: Who's da New King of Hell? (2019)
Can't wait for season 5!
Fantastic end to this season, Netflix have done really well picking up lucifer, hopefully they'll continue it for a few more seasons at least!
King of Thieves (2018)
Very poor, slow and unnecessary
I don't normally write a review but I felt it necessary in this case. For a start, the film is unbelievably dull and very slow paced. The only really exciting bit is the heist and even that has its low points. Great acting but otherwise not worth watching. Also lots of swearing! Normally I don't mind but it was just distracting and it seemed as though the writers didn't know what other dialogue to use
