The Unholy (2021)
Another Witch Goes Up in Smoke
I really wanted to like this movie, but from the get go they propagated one of the biggest lies in American history. No witches in America were ever burned at the stake. None. In Europe, those considered heretics were not infrequently set aflame but not in America. My all-time favorite film about witchcraft is Horror Hotel, a.k.a. The City of the Dead. Its opening scene is quite similar to that of The Unholy. It was made in 1960. You would think after 64 years filmmakers would get this one important historical point correct. It's not that I'm against artistic license but promoting this myth ad nauseam really detracts from a story line.
Island Claws (1980)
The Revenge of the Crab Cakes!
Seriously underrated B-movie horror. A highly entertaining film in the vein of Tarantula and Mysterious Island. It is a must see for anyone that loves cinematic giant invertebrate thrills.
Criminal Act (1989)
Made through 5 minutes
The synopsis for this film was intriguing, so I started watching it. The "chemistry" between the two main characters was as forced as tax bill, as flat as bad soda, and as irritating as a bug in the eye. Sad to see someone of John Saxon's caliber in this movie.
Halloween Wars (2011)
Pumpkins???
Where are the pumpkins? I've watched the show from the beginning. Why did you drop one of its most exciting aspects?
Eruption (2009)
Clive is 19th on the cast listing???
Really? He's the movie! Who are the guys in spots number one and number two? Never heard of them.
First Man (2018)
Extremely well done!
What's not to like about this film ... except the hate speech of the 60s?
Skjelvet (2018)
Gut-wrenching!
This movie is as good, if not better than the prequel. Norwegians have clearly surpassed us Americans in telling stories that have characters are so dynamically developed. We've lost the edge. Please continue to produce such well-crafted films!
The Lazarus Effect (2015)
And the point was ... ?
I love a good horror movie when there's a point to the movie. And this one was? This film divorces its plot from reality and that's where it utters fails.
