The Last Seduction (1994)
Surprisingly thrilling!
Watched this movie expecting it to be a usual sexy flick, but once you start its a pretty brilliant movie.it starts of with a drug deal by a husband and wife to make some quick money and start off their dream life. But then the wife gets smart and tries to get away with the whole stash. in my opinion the script is very engaging and combined with the very convincing act put on by Linda Fiorentino(bridged gregory), the lead lady. She made the movie come to life with so much versatility, it was so natural and spontaneous. As the plot delves in, each of her wicked plans unfold, and we are left to wonder, "Oh God, what kind of woman is this?" But even then you have a subtle appreciation for the kind of tricky net she builds and manipulates people into it. She moves into a small country so that she can stay low for a while and gets a job, so as to stay rooted. But her husband, is not going to let go and sets out to find her. this is how the movie rolls. The highlight is it doesn't make the ending justifiable or the ending as it have turned out to be , like in the usual movies, this one takes a different turn, a much more fun turn, just as the whole movie is. Entertaining , sexy and carefree!
Side Effects (2013)
Not too bad
Not a bad movie. saw the movie with lot of expectation as usual, but it dint disappoint me either. one reason to watch the movie is Rooney Mara, although plays a psychotic character she looks good!!the movie has all the basic components, the love story, the suspense, the twists and turns but somehow doesn't put you on the edge. Jude Law delivers a decent performance. He is a psychologist who works 30 hour shifts daily so that hiss son can go to private school. As usual he nails it.It puts the booming pharmaceutical industry on a trial and puts out the dirty play going on. its a good watch, but don't put your expectations too high, its just a plain thriller, wont bore you. But for a movie of this generation, the story and plot seems outdated.
The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988)
Not even close to what i expected
I actually saw the movie with a lot of expectation. The title itself was very catchy at the same time mysterious. But i have never before been this disappointed by a movie. It started out with the story of a young doctor with numerous sexual partners who falls for a meek, typical "good girl" who expects a monogamous relationship. throughout the movie what i searched for is some level of ingenuity, spontaneity or even a beautiful romance. Sorry but i didn't find any. the film itself makes no sense, mainly because there is no naturality at all, especially how he falls in love with the lady. He saw her, next moment they talk for a second, he leaves, reaches home, she shows up that night, they make out and they get married. All this in a span of 2 days or so. this applies to the whole of the movie. To conclude it was a mistake to watch this movie for me.
