All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur (2020)
Well crafted but overdramatic
People compare It with Man City as benchmark. And the ingredients are there: craftsmanship, music and filmmaking, individual stories, personal dramas but you have to see the bigger picture here...which is the story of ordinary club who didn't even compete not to mention winning anything on the back of Man City who broke all the records and were one of the best PL teams in history...so there's no power in the story , not to mention that it doesn't really show the true side of the team and I suggest to look at players faces when the coach speaks to see
it doesn't even come close to original All or Nothing...
Defending Jacob (2020)
Defending the Ending
The finale might be disappointing for some looking for clear answer. There is none given on the plate but it adds to the mystery of the story and for me it's more appealing. Even though it's in contrast to the book's ending, it leaves us with reflection that the family struggles will not end after such traumatic events. There will be no happy ending, no starting over theme on the cards and we can see that throughout the show in every episode. What is the pure soil of this close to perfect story is the family relations which are presented with probably the best performances of Chris Evans and Michelle Dockery. 8 episodes are worth every minute of your time thanks to their magnetism and real emotions of parents not being able to help their child, coping with a possibility of their offspring being the psychopath and murderer, losing their minds every day stuck in a cage with media all over their heads. Also shout out to the rest of the crew: J.K. Simmons among the others. There were no bad choices in the casting to be honest.
What could have been done better?
The show is coherent but music and cinematography is too polished. The sound motives sometimes start to be annoying with one paced tempo and the same mood over and over again. Final musical theme sounds strange and out of this world. The camera work and pictures could be more raw. And finally maybe the writers went one step to far with twists in the end. But personally I like the room for interpretation.
