Chernobyl (2019)
One of the best things I've see for a long time
I'm sure there will many minor points about this that people will dispute if they were actually real. So the best way to treat this is like watching Titanic, that was a love story based around how the ship sank.
I wasn't aware until the end if this was actually based around facts or something fictional that had been created just using the accident as the main theme. I'm so pleased that it was based on the facts as that holds a much deeper meaning to this mini series.
Reading some of the reviews from other people, especially those who actually lived in Pripyat is simply amazing to hear their side.
If you are looking to watch one thing that his history based then this has to be it!
Roots (2016)
Amazing just purely amazing
This has just aired on the BBC in the UK and I've watched all four episodes over the last couple of evenings where I purely found it by chance.
I remember the original series way back many years ago and loved it then. This adaption is purely amazing. You are placed right in the scene of the families who were the slaves. It is never nice to imagine what happened but this is such an eye opener as to how life would have been and I'm sure that the worst was never covered.
If you are someone who likes these types of historical programs with possibly a fictional side then this will be perfect for you.
With it all finished it just makes you realise how lucky we are in this world today were we worry about such petty things like what to cook for tea or the TV is playing up. Such simple things we take for granted .
Game of Thrones (2011)
Has been excellent but 2015 a let down
I've not read the books.
Someone at work got me on to this when Season 3 was on. I caught up from the very beginning and watched the last episode of Season 3 the night it was aired.
Totally hooked on the show and eager to watch each episode as it was aired.
2015 held high hopes and I already knew after watching episode 1 and Throne Cast on Sky that the writers hadn't written ahead for the TV series so stories were changing. The 2015 season did have some great story lines, but it didn't capture you like the previous seasons. No mention of the 3 eyed raven at all in the whole season. When it finally finished I was left without that same feeling of wanting the next season to appear so quickly. I think the screen writers have now spoilt the series and although I would continue to watch them until they finally wrote of the series it wouldn't bother me now if the series is shelved.
Lets just hope that they up the game in 2016 and concentrate on the storyline rather than the special effects.
