Blood of Zeus (2020)
FIRE the sound team
Seriously sometimes sounds Like a (metal?) vase being used to destroy a stone furnace just have pots and pan sounds. other times rocks will be destroyed and no sound whatsoever. Animation is pretty good, nothing to write home about. But sometimes there isn't any sound to go with the animations and I think they try and cover that fact with background music.
Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart (2014)
Hopefully the next major CN title
This show is a roller coaster in all the right ways. The first few episodes can be hard to watch, the first few episodes are serviceable but not great. These episodes are important to set up the plot and how the world works. Every episode is better than the last and each episode has it's own unique plot and subplot. It has the off the cuff high impact style humor that's become popular today but the show has extremely cleaver moments that shine like gems. The action sequences are hype, the humor is fantastic, and the semi episodic nature allows one shots and overarching plot lines meld.
Amazing show, give the first few episodes a try if you feel like it.
ThunderCats Roar (2020)
An attack on fans
Stomached 4 episodes, 4 chances for something redeemable. This show is garbage, riding on the coattails of OG ThunderCats and Teen Titans Go. For some reason random humor and unironic satirical takes on good cartoons now dominates CN. Don't watch ThunderCats Roar watch Mao Mao: Heroes of The Pure Heart. Mao Mao has all the random humor you could ask for while having a cast of amazing characters. Why can't I rate this a 0/10? I wouldn't have even cared enough to make this review if it wasn't for the Teen Titans Go crossover episode which openly mocks OG fans.
DO NOT WATCH THUNDERCATS
WATCH MAO MAO
The Dragon Prince (2018)
I expected nothing and got everything 'A MUST WATCH'
I went in not knowing anything about who made this, it's rating, or who was voice acting in it. I WAS BLOWN AWAY. By episode one I was immediate invested in the lives of the main and supporting cast. Everything in this series is good, there isn't a single character so far that I can say I hate or don't understand. This series takes the term 'everyone is the hero of their own story', compounds it with smart creative writing, a well rounded cast, and side splitting quips. The fact it's made by the people who made Avatar: the Last Air Bender only makes it better. This show is amazing and I'm waiting eagerly for more.
Supergirl (2015)
An average start with progressive lazy writing
Supergirl is by far the weakest title in the DC television universe. Despite the interesting and creative start and casting picks the writers of Supergirl have repeatedly buffered their time slot with pointless backstory on how awful and racist the police state in Earth-38 is. I'm not opposed to the casting of an actor for a role traditionally portrayed as a different race. But Supergirl's writers seem to spin the oppression angle into every cast they make solely to fill their show with 5 minute long tangents about oppression and what I would consider "Spider-Man" like quips to remind you that the James Olsen of Earth-38 is in fact a Black Man. Not to bash Mehcad Brooks for his soulful portrayal of James Olsen. The writing has progressively gotten lazier since the first season, and while interesting and engaging plotlines still exist even in season 4 they fall short of redeeming the series in the glaring light of the character regression that takes place. Prior to season 4 I would give Supergirl 6 stars, but the suspension of disbelief required to stomach season 4 is so all consuming I cannot help but rate this title 3 stars.
