Seinfeld (1989)
Seinfeld
Seinfeld is a really well known and loved show. I have to admit I don't get why it is such a hugely popular and successful show but maybe it is one of those things where it gets old quick and the jokes and characters just aren't the same over time. I just watched them all on DVD and it was pretty funny, but I don't think it was like the best show of all time or anything.
My favourite character was Kramer even though he's pretty stupid and over the top with the physical falling down and wackiness. I am not sure how I feel about that though since he had that big blow up and seems maybe racist.
Silent But Deadly (2011)
Laaaaaaaame
This movie is really terrible.
The acting stinks.
The scares are not original and you can tell everything that is going to happen in advance of it happening, so nothing in this movie is scary in the least.
The C.G.I. is really awful, it is as if they hired students from a high school computer programming class.
The writing is awful with some really horrible jokes, I can't believe they are actually in a movie.
I can't think of anything of any value in this movie other than seeing the two hot chicks topless in the first few minutes, if that is what you are after watch for a couple minutes then turn this off. But it's not worth it.
Mr. D (2012)
Don't Believe the Hype
Mr. D is some bad comedy. First of all the problems is the show's star who is basically just some guy acting like a jerk. At first it is a believable character but soon it is apparent that it's just the actor and what he does. He's not a nice person and he's kind of stupid and selfish. I don't care about that since there are a lot of comedy characters like that, the problem I have is that they don't go anywhere with it and the jokes aren't funny. The other characters in the show I don't care about enough to care about what's going on with the show, there is way too much of this guy acting like a jerk to actually care about the other characters on any real level. So once you get over the easy jokes of him being a jerk it's just a repetitive joke of him being a stupid, selfish jerk, trying to get away with something then getting caught, just like According to Jim and a bunch of other shows with bad predictable writing and jokes. Some of the other characters are decent and have a funny line once in a while so I bumped up the show's rating, I just wish there was more of them so I could like the show better. Hopefully if the show comes back again they will flesh out the other characters and get some better story lines going on.
Buzz (2000)
Atrociously Bad!
The Buzz is one of those shows that is so bad you watch it and think "how can the world be this cruel that a crappy show like this would be beamed into my home?" The two hosts (one white guy and one black guy) are both so completely not funny that it's ridiculous. Usually they just go out on the street and ask people stupid questions or act like jackasses and record people's reactions. So stupid.
But the sketches they do wouldn't even be funny with Jim Carrey and the cast of Saturday Night Live from the days of John Belushi, Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd.
The monologues by Mista Mo are especially vomit inducing.
The Buzz is atrociously bad and I can't believe something like this ever made it onto the air let alone got renewed for more than one season!
You Bet Your Ass (2006)
Not Bad for the Comedy Network
The host is pretty funny and has a bad attitude with the contestants and his co-host sitara. She is just the needed good-looking girl element to the show. It's pretty mindless entertainment but it's not a terrible way to pass half an hour. Most people I know don't like it but I watch it sometimes and the host gets in a good one liner sometimes and the trivia can be interesting sometimes. Sad to say it is one of the only things on the comedy network I can stand to watch at all and still it is only a o.k. show to watch. Compared to the other shows on that channel like Punched Up and Keys to the VIP and my personal pick for worst t.v. show of all time Girls Will Be Girls it is great but still just an average show. If it stays on t.v. I hope they keep the host because he is easy the best part of this show.
Keys to the VIP (2006)
Horrible Piece O' Crap!
Keys to the VIP is just plain sad.
Why would the comedy network make this show? It's not funny, it's not even funny in a so bad that it's funny kind of way, it's just a pathetic terrible show about losers trying to pick up girls at bars and sucking at it.
This show is easily as bad as the brain-melting Girls Will Be Girls and Popcultured, which I never thought could ever even be approached on the scale of crappy TV.
Even the hosts of this show are annoying losers. How can you have like four hosts and have all of them suck so much? Nobody would want to hang out with any of these people in a bar because they think they're funny but they're just embarrassing and stupid.
Avoid this show unless you have had a lobotomy. Actually even if you had a lobotomy you are probably still way waaaay waaaaaaaaaay too smart for Keys to the VIP.
Royal Canadian Air Farce (1993)
Comedy for Geriatrics
The jokes on Air Farce probably were never funny but if they ever were it was back in World War Two.
They have a chicken cannon. They put garbage in the cannon and then shoot it at pictures of politicians.
It's like watching half an hour of a nightmare where you're stuck in the audience of a community theatre show at an old folks home where nobody is allowed to walk out.
It's just painful.
They do impersonations where they put on a wig and then say for example "Hi I'm Bob Rae" but then they just use their own voice. That's not an impersonation, it's just a confused senior citizen wearing a wacky wig telling jokes that for some reason they think might be funny to somebody else.
What is CBC thinking? The people writing the jokes for CBC must be world war veterans who think that wacky wigs and puns are the peak of comedy, maybe in ten years they'll start writing the latest craziest kind of comedy, knock knock jokes!
The Red Green Show (1991)
Average
I give The Red Green Show a very average five stars out of a possible ten, not bad but not great.
The comedy is pretty tame and run of the mill. It is based mostly on characters, especially Red Green himself (played by Steve Smith, the show's creator and producer) and his nerdy nephew Harold (played by Patrick McKenna).
The show also features some pretty recognizable Canadian comedians and actors as supporting characters.
My dad likes the show but I never really did, that's not to say that the show is bad in my opinion it is just geared more to an older audience and maybe not as young/hip/savvy as more regular comedy viewers such as myself.
